"Neon Genesis Evangelion" is ok, but the last 2 episodes are totally crap. So I then roccomend watching the "Neon Genesis Evangelion: The End of Evangelion" movie(an alternate ending to NGE), since it has a better ending.
Overall the series are worth checking up, imo.
