May the new year bless you with health, wealth, and happiness.
Also you cannot have multiple wives, it is EXPLICITLY stated in the bible and enforced by the church. Indeed some nobles may have sex to more than one person but they do not have multiple wives and any heir from those other women are bastards and are frowned upon in medieval society everywhere and in all times. You also underestimate the power of the church.
Kings may have privileges by having more concubines and mistresses but the church was generally speaking successful in dissuading rulers to marry more than one woman at a time.
A lot of MT fans seem to have zero clue about the medieval age, and per religion sex was almost barred. Nowadays people have more freedom than in the past, so its the reverse. Most manga/anime have shit historical accuracy lol, much less a garbage LN.
People act worse to women in MT than in reality actually.
Sometimes, previews can give a view that's not entirely fair, since certain details are only revealed later. However, most people are generally able to discern whether or not an anime is for them after 4 episodes.
Imagine someone wrote a review for my favorite anime after 4 episodes. It would probably look like this. "I can say the main character is an evil cunt with no redeemable features at all. She is just a soulless killing machine, and the anime made her the main character because it's edgy and juvenile. The male lead and supporting deuteragonist is a pussy and I don't like him. He makes Shinji look like a Fist of the North Star character. The pacing is horrible. I have no idea what's going on. I think a lot of explanation from the manga was left out, but who cares because the manga is garbage anyways. The animation is ok I guess, but nothing amazing. I like the OP at least. I don't think most people would enjoy this shit."
A fanboy could then jump in and say, "Wait a minute! That's not fair at all! The manga is shit, but in the 2nd half it gets to largely abandon the manga and launch one of the greatest come backs in anime history. Yeah, the MC looks awful but actually turns out to be a tragic anti-hero with arguably one of the most moving redemption arcs in anime, all culminating with one of the most soul wrenching confessions and apologies in anime, which is backed by beautiful direction by Mamoru Kanbe and the leitmotif that has been building throughout the series is brought in one last time for a tear-jerking finale. The last episode is one of the most memorable I've seen since The Beast who Shouted Love at the Heart of the World."
Of course, the fan would have the right to say all those things. The critic who wrote the early review wasn't aware that the series does get better. However, that critic's review still probably helped more people than it deceived. The majority of people who passionately hate Elfen Lied after episode 4 are still going to hate it after episode 13. Almost all the people who ended loving Elfen Lied at least were partially enjoying it after episode 4. Mushoku is honestly the same way. It's not a series that its diehard fans hate at the beginning and only 3/4ths through start to like it. If you've watched all of Mushoku Season 1 and the first 4 episodes of S2 and you still absolutely despite it...that viewer is very likely to keep hating it. That's why MAL allows previews. Most of the time, they're relatively accurate at predicting if someone will love a series.
Looking at your top 5 anime, Made in Abyss did win a Anime of the Season back in 2017 I believe. Years just keep on flying. I also see you have some rather new shows in your top-5. With 1000+ entries completed that is quite some praise. A lot of people tend to establish their favorites and then stick to them. I'm a little like that with characters.
