That is a great question, and one I'd like a better answer to myself, lol. Much like I say in my rating criteria what separates a 10 from a 9 is some unknowable quality, almost like magic. At the risk of sounding pretentious, the difference between an 8 and a 9 is highly technical, and I could precisely outline my reasoning, all he way down to philosophical positioning, artistic linework, and vocal tone. However, what separates a 9 and a 10 is much more mysterious, personal, and honestly, almost metaphysical. I bestow the rare 10 not just because an anime is great, but because it resonates with me on a level that is really quite difficult to describe. It is a piece of art that stays with me forever, one that I can feel in every cell of my body when I watch it, one that stirs my soul when I talk about it. For an anime to get a 10 from me, it would have to hit me like that, whatever "that" is, because as far as I can manage, "that" doesn't have a name.

I think Pandora Hearts is a really beautiful story, It's so unique in comparison to most of the shitty shonen, It doesn't need power ups and 24/7 action to engage u in the story
