No worries about the delay, mine has been just as bad. Just got back from Australia and it was pretty epic, nice and warm with great shopping, cool building architecture and plenty of things to do/see :)
Yeah it's coming into winter here at the moment, we had some intense lightning storms this week. I get so confused at the beginning of each new season when choosing what anime to watch. I have to keep checking I have the right one. Does it get very hot in summer where you are?
Good choice of the main animes this season though. My absolute favourite is Re:Zero, that last episode was so good! Apparently the light novels are really good as well, just like Grimgar. I'd love to read them. what do you think of Re:Zero? I love the slow paced romance developing between the two MCs :D
Then next in the list of favourites is Kiznaiver as well and Boku no Hero Academia. Kiznaiver reminds me so much of Gatchaman with its art style and feel. Bungou Stray Dogs has been demoted because the last few episodes were kind of hard to follow and a little boring, so I got distracted and only watched halfway through.
Is Tanaka-kun good? I mustn't have given it a good enough chance because I dropped it after the second ep.
Haha wow, that's actually a really interesting way to go about an anime. I can't say I've seen one that makes you hate all the characters on purpose. Sounds like something I wouldn't mind keeping to the side for a rainy day.
I loved Sousei no Onimyouji (except Benio's stupid annoying familiar) I started reading the manga and have since dropped the anime because it doesn't do the manga justice at all! Do you read many mangas? I definitely recommend it, as well as Boku no Hero Academia (the anime). It's probably aimed at kids more than us and has a really cheesy storyline but I've already got a few people hooked and I even had my heart squeezed a few times while watching because of the MC.
Ah maan you're missing out with Rakugo! I can't even express how much I loved it and Mononoke is great too! It's a collection of 12 stories all relating to Japanese mythology. The art style is really different to anything else which is one of the reasons why I liked it so much.
Have pinned Baccano and will definitely be giving it a watch next, I just need to finish XxxHolic and Mushishi first which are so long! T-T
Yeah I'm weak when it comes to Movies. I recently saw Only Yesterday as a celebration of 25 years of Studio Ghibli but that's about it. I agree with you about the development/endings of them, I guess there's a real art to making a movie that gives you just the right amount of everything in the space of 2 hours or so.
Thanks heaps for the recommendations, I have Hal and Hotarubi already on my list but I had totally forgotten they existed.
Definitely going to watch them over the rainy months. I can think of nothing better than to eat bad food, snuggled up in heavy blankets with a good movie right now. 6 hours of work to go! xD
I'll let you know how Oz turns out and then next on my list is definitely Japan! I love winter and snow so I'd be so keen to travel in the winter to Japan and Europe. I'm so glad the season is changing here and things are cooling off. I was so over summer only a few days after it started.
I hear ya. I would prefer doing something short, simple and quiet than a contiki, from what I've heard they seem really fast paced and party orientated. xD
Wow, I've heard of Grand Designs and damn... that is so cheap! :0 I'll definitely be looking into that website for my travels.
You're so right, I haven't finished Nichijou either, I watched about 5 episodes and then the highlights on youtube. I am also still chipping away at Ichigo Mashimaro which is similar. You gotta be in the right mood I reckon. :)
Kekkai Sensen is one of my favourites, I loved the steam punk feel and that last episode was worth the wait. I'm thinking Bungou Stray Dogs might be my top pick this season. That last episode! Tied in first would definitely be Re:Zero and 25 episodes?! Awesome!
With Kabenari I think that at long as it doesn't reach the brain then your a half and half, the girl he meets has the metal headband. I have no idea where the story is going to go though so that's exciting!
I decided to drop Flying Witch and Mayoiga. Mayoiga was super weird, I stopped at Soy Latte's introduction and I'm just going to wait till I hear others opinions before I pick it up again. I'm being super brutal this season. xD
Oh! I forgot, one that I really like at the moment is Sousei no Onmyouji. Have you started watching that one?
Yeah I was disappointed with Erased, they actually could've made it so much more by doing two seasons with the first season ending with Satoru's "death" and then the next season him waking up after the coma. It was popular enough and that cliffhanger would've made people go crazy. Ah well!
Good Idea watching Rakugo it all at once. I watched the first 6 or so all at once and it was the best thing ever, you could easily get completely immersed in the story that way. Historical stories and mythology stories are my favourites. Have you seen Mononoke by any chance? Thats a good one!
Oh I didn't realise they weren't that bad at all. I had a look into them when they came out and for some reason got the impression it was a real investment. I might pick them up as side Animes. :D
Do you watch many Anime movies? Any you recommend?
At the moment I have a holiday booked for Sydney. Starting out small since I haven't left the country since I was 2 years old. Then I'd love to travel Europe and visit Japan. When I think of Scandinavia I imagine cold, fresh, vast green and rocky landscapes. That would be amazing! And with Eastern Europe, my friend visited the Ukraine not too long ago and ever since she has been obsessed with it. So great choices! Would you ever do a Contiki?
That website you linked is awesome! Will definitely consider using it, it'll immerse you in the culture a lot better than staying at a hotel would :D Have you used it before?
Sakamoto was hilarious but I'm not a huge fan of animes that have lots of little skits within the episodes like Danshi Kokousei no Nichijou or Nichijou - I'll give it three episodes before I decide to drop it. On the other hand I really liked Bungou Stray dogs, it reminds me a bit of Kekkai Sensen for some reason and I can see Re:Zero is gonna mess me up because apparently the light novel it's based on is pretty sadistic, so whatever that means I can't wait to find out!
I loved the animation and the art style of Koutetsujou no Kabaneri, I think it's great so far but the part where he bolted himself up to avoid being taken over by the disease was a bit strange, I wonder what that's all about!
I also watched Flying Witch because I've read the manga, but I was disappointed because all the voice acting seemed monotone and everything felt really slow paced and boring.
I gotta say overall this season is turning out a lot better and more promising than the last two!
I also saw that Koe no Katachi is getting a movie next season. That'll be one to look out for because I thoroughly enjoyed the manga!
With Erased the ending was a lot more drawn out. It's a pretty long story so you don't have to read it. I'll make it a spoiler button.
Firstly when the camera men were taking photos of Satoru for the newspaper it's Airi that punches the camera out of his hands and seeing Airi is what triggers Satoru to get his memories back. Now I was shipping Airi x Satoru since episode 1 so this made me super excited for that to progress! It turns out that the little girl with Leukemia is Airi's little sister as well and Airi saw the camera men on the way to visit her which was a really cool coincidence.
Yashiro sensei's story wasn't properly explained either. Basically when he was little, his brother would use him as a wingman to lure girls into this hut and stand guard while he sexually abused them, then one day one of the girls accidentally dies and they hide her body. The hamster thing happens as a side note and often he took the hamster that survived with him on guard so that he would't be bored. Anyway! So that Yashiro-sensei wouldn't get in trouble he hung his brother in the same shed so that it looked like he killed the girl and then hung himself from grief which made him free from being an accomplice. Then he gets this thirst to fill the hole in his heart by kidnapping and killing young girls and later kills his wife because she suspected him. Then he kills his father-in-law later on (after attempting to kill Satoru) to inherit his position as a politician. He funds the recuperation of Satoru as it will be more satisfying for him to kill Satoru when he is fully recovered and then plans an event for the hospital patients and the local high school, which both Airi's little sister and Satoru attend, a few days after he regains his memories. Satoru plans with Kenya to catch Yashiro-sensei trying to use Airi's little sister as bait and they succeed in catching him and framing him for attempted murder on Airi's sister. Then it ends with him laughing in jail and then Satoru meeting Airi under that bridge. So as you can see a lot got cut out and even how I summarised it is kind of crap (sorry!) and not the full picture, so I thought they'd do the whole thing in two seasons.
I reckon they did the seasons in Haikyuu!! like that on purpose so we would be tricked into thinking they wouldn't win, sneaky! Can't wait for season three!!
OH you're watching it too? Please tell me what you thought of Genroku once you're done. AH I LOVED IT SO MUCH! So glad I gave it a shot. It was an anime I was considering giving a miss last season because the synopsis sounded boring.
Grimgar was so good eh! I didn't mind the fan service too much because it got less and less as the season went on. And yeah, Manato's death was a total surprise and it made me think Ranta was going to go next when they faced the death spots in the last few episodes. So glad they all made it though!
Oh nice! Baccano and Durarara are long series with multiple seasons aren't they? I've heard great things about them but I'm apprehensive to invest when they have more than one season.
I see Bakemono no Ko is now your DP? I really loved that movie because it was so awesome seeing the two MC's character progression. The other movie by the same director (The Wolf Children) messed me up for nearly a whole week with feels.
Sorry for the massive essay! Hope you're having a great weekend!
Great to hear! I feel ya! I'm also saving to go overseas and then to buy a house, so working extra hard, the prices are ridiculous here in NZ though so it'll probably be a while off :/ Where would you wanna go on holiday? Haha look at us adult-ing all over the place. NICE!
I really love my new job. Fairly easy with a little bit of room to keep up with my hobbies which is great! At my old job we had a team of 14 so tbh I thought they would go under. But I still drive past there everyday and see that it's still standing. A lot of us went into the same job or something similar and some ditched beauty therapy all together went to Oz and now do hospitality. :)
With the new season I have a whole list of about 15-20 that I wanna give the 3 episode watch to but I'm most excited for Kyoukai no Rinne (second season), Sakamoto desu ga?, Re:Zero and Bungou Stray Dogs. Actually Sakamoto desu ga coming out has reminded me that they are making a prequel to Barakamon soon called Handa-san and if it's anything like the manga, it's gonna be so damn good! I'll definitely be giving the two you mentioned a watch as well as they both look promising.
Yay! I loved Erased too! I read the manga so I'm still not so sure about the way they ended it (it was definitely an adaptation) but I can deal because it still ended with the same outcome. It's nice to hear your opinion as someone who hasn't read the manga.
Haha I know right!? I shouted so loud that everyone in the house thought I was crazy when they won. I was convinced they were going to lose and had prepared my heart for it. What you said about Yamaguchi reminds me of this picture I saw recently of a first season and second season Yamaguchi. Such an amazing transformation for him and also the whole team has grown so much since we first met them T-T
You know what I really, really, really loved from the last few seasons? Shouwa Genroku Rakugo Shinjuu. It was amazing, I cried, I can't wait for the second season!!!
Others include the mainstream ones continuing on like Owari no Seraph and Noragami. Then there's Hai to Gensou no Grimgar, Dagashi Kashi, and Kono subarashii sekai ni Shifuku wo! :)
How about you?
Heya! Thanks for your reply :D
I'm well thank you! How have you been? How's your job going?
Yes! I'm impressed you remember my job dramas :) I quit my shitty job and I now work as a teeth whitening technician. It was super random how I got out, basically a got offered a new job at the same time my old bosses were treating the team we had terribly, so I (along with 8 others) walked out and I started at the new job the next day. I lost all my holiday pay and pay for the last week I worked but it was so worth it.
Are you still keeping up with the seasons? What's on the to-watch list this spring?
What did you think of Boku Dake ga Inai Machi?
Haikyuu!! S2 was brilliant wasn't it?
Mmm~! I could watch the finale butchery as the horror was justified; the thing that puts me off from horror is lack of justification for it. I find it easier to watch horror once the scene has been set for it in a manner believable that primitive butchery is what characters will resort to in a struggle. That it did well. If it hadn't done so I'd have shivered under the blankets of my bed for a good few hours curing myself with endless moe.
It is a shame it is fairly unheard of, but I hope with time it'll be just a little better known each year!
Ossu!~ My first profile comment, I've shed tears over if this day would ever come! Dankeschon, my new friend. Yes, that hospital episode, I will disclose I honestly was cuddling the pillows off my bed..the tone at the end really shot off into horror and chaos. But it was all necessary to complete the great wonder...(start a drumroll about here)... the pinnacle of anime in my humble yet biased opinion, Shinsekai Yori!
Yeah really good as well! So awesome to finally have no obligation to be anywhere and you can just chill, haven't had that in a while. I feel like there needs to be a holiday in the last half of the year so that there isn't this huge section of work before christmas starts. Basically I'll take any excuse to not work but still get paid. haha.
I totally agree that the cliffhanger at the end of A/Z's last season fell extremely flat as soon as I saw that everyone had survived. So gutted as I thought the whole direction of the series would change but really it hasn't other than the fake princess and that Inaho's personality seems to have gotten colder ever since he got shot and his face was replaced with bionic bits. The whole speech about defeating the ice guy went over my head too. I'm glad I wasn't the only one!
Death Parade got me contemplating my existence for a while after that first episode. It was so intense! Lets hope they keep it up for sure.
Tokyo Ghoul was really disappointing because they've strayed pretty far from the manga.
As far as know he was supposed to form his own group with the teacher guy, Banjo and the Gourmet to find out more about himself... but he went with Aogiri Tree... strange!
It's great hearing someone who hasn't read the manga's opinion on it. Maybe it's going to be a series ruined for me because I caved and read the manga.
KanColle and Seiken Tsukai no World Break were both dropped after the first episode for me, I couldn't stand them. Ansatsu Kyoushitsu is looking to go that way as well because the storyline is so whack!
The art in Rolling☆Girls is so cool! A lot of the backgrounds are watercolor paintings :D!
Other than these I haven't really stated anything else yet. I cant believe Haikyuu is getting a second season! Yay! Also Highschool DxD's third season is out next season and Kyoukai no Kanata is getting a movie. So much to look forward to!
I got invited to a screening of the new naruto movie coming out and I said yes thinking it would be cool to go for the lols and I thought I could spend today catching up on the movies that came before "The Last". Turns out its the 10th Naruto movie! xD aw man... I think ill be reading the movie summaries on Wikipedia.
Heya! How was your Christmas? Are you back at work now? How's the new season going with you so far? What did you think of A/Z S2E1? Are there any animes starting up this season that have surprised you and been really good? Woah so many questions!
To reply to your last post, I had the exact same wtf moment when the whole of Hitsugi no Chaika came down to the fact that the world was saved because Niva swapped sides. So random. But the part where you think that Chaika might be dead and Toru is crying over her with her in his arms was the best thing ever. FINALLY!
Nanatsu no Taizai is still a top for me! I ruined Shigatsu wa Kimi no Uso by reading the manga so I'm pretty slack at keeping up with that and I really enjoy Shirobako but its one of those series that you are reluctant to watch. Basically because I feel like it demands that you're awake and ready to absorb information from it and I'm never at that stage when I finally have some free time to watch. Reminds me of the spiel that Inaho had for how he was going to defeat the ice guy. Did you catch any of that and understand it? I love how he picked up on how the sky is blue because of Rayleigh scattering and that he had explained that to the princess in season one so she should have known :O.
Garo was awesome and hilarious to start with, but it has gotten pretty serious and meh lately, I wouldn't waste your time. Shingeki no Bahamut did exactly the same but the fact that it was only 12 eps meant that they stopped while they were ahead and right before it got crappy. So I though was pretty good and funny too. xD
Will definitely have a look at the music you recommended. Looks interesting! I love music that has a really awesome backstory.
Merry Christmas!! Hope you have a fantastic day, get showered in presents and get to have heaps of fun with your family :D
I'll reply to your post as soon as I can :)
Heya! All good! I’ve been really struggling to keep up with some of the anime this season and as a result I’ve dropped a few and just decided to focus on my favourite ones. I can’t believe the season is nearly over and Chaika is complete ;-; what did you think?
The days you have off are pretty sweet! I think I have the same. I’m going back home for a week for the holidays and I am dying at work atm waiting for Christmas to hurry up so I can see everyone!
Haha I just watched Kokkuri-san and The Seven Deadly Sins which, along with Parasyte, are my favourite three right now.
I so have to catch up on Inou-battle! Unfortunately thats the unlucky one that has been sidelined recently. I picked up Garo and Shingeki no bahamut genesis though and I love them! So worth it because the art and the storylines are a little bit different to the usual, a little more adult and also pretty funny. Which reminds me that I totally agree with you about the swearing and stuff in Parasyte. I feel the same way about lots of anime I watch lately and I reckon it feels more real if they swear and pull rude gestures because anyone in that situation would do the same.
42’’? Awesome! When nobody else is home I often HDMI my stuff onto the T.V in the lounge. So much better than sitting in bed trying to get comfortable with an overheating laptop on your lap!
If I don’t hear from you before Christmas I hope you have a good one! As for New years I highly recommend Noisia’s latest two albums ‘Split the Atom’ and 'I am Legion’ where they pair up with Foreign Beggars. My favourite is Split the atom though, enjoy!
Any metal recc? I’m pretty all over the place with what genres I’m into. I’ve been listening to Bakumatsu Rock styled J-Rock recently which is pretty random but I’ve just felt in the mood for it, might give metal a go and see if theres any I like :)
The music festival is called Northern Bass so it’s a whole bunch of DnB and Dubstep artists. Main one I’m looking forward to seeing in Noisia! :D http://northernbass.co.nz/
Ah that’s so good that Christmas doesn’t go mental for you. Do you have a decent amount of time off?
I went and did it. Haha, the manga is so good and like you said it’s really old (1989-1995) and similar style drawing to anime like DBZ, Golden Boy etc. I think it’s funnier than the anime though, the part where he “talks to his Johnson” in the bathroom is closely followed by Migi transforming his hand into a penis while he is trying to eat with Murano at McDonalds. That made me laugh pretty hard along with the amount of swearing that’s in it. A lot less PG than the Anime that’s for sure!
The VA for the female Kokkuri is Ryoko Shiraishi, she doesn’t VA much but I love her voice. She is little Kou in Ao Haru Ride and Macaron from Amagi brilliant Park. :D
Aw Yeah I really thought the both of them would go with Yona and Hak, however I’m assuming only the dragons the priest mentioned will end up as a posse with Yona being the firey main dragon. That’s just a guess though. I originally thought that Yoon might be the guy with an eagle claw because of the feathers he wears in his hair but I’m second guessing that now. So looking forward to catching up on this weeks eps. I took a day off work so that I could get everything sorted. :p
The only thing I’m loving about Okkami Shoujo at the mo is the Opening song, haha.
I totally agree Tomoyo is awesome! Wow the latest ep of Inou-battle was so confusing to begin with! I felt like I had missed a whole episode!
How big is your T.V? Wall mounted? I can only imagine watching anime on a huge T.V in HD. I’ve only ever watched on my 15” laptop and my phone.
Nanatsu no Taizai is so good. The fight scenes seem to only get better and more OP as the series progresses.
Hey those next season shows look promising. I can’t wait! only a month to go before they start coming out. I am trying so hard to catch up on animes I have on hold but again I’m thinking that its gonna be impossible! I really want to catch up to Psycho-pass before they release the movie!
Oh that reminds me! Kyoukai no Kanata is getting a movie too! yay!

Always nice to meet people with similar taste :D
I'll reply to your post as soon as I can :)

Kyoukai no Kanata is getting a movie too! yay!
