I believe you shouldn't watch any anime barely half way through then make a review talking about how shit it is. It's like skipping through the end of "Sword Art Online" or SAO to the part where Asuna gets stuck in the 2nd virtual world and is getting chained up by Sugou Nobuyuki then writing a shit review about how there making the teenage girls in SAO get raped or if a person just watch the 1st episode of "Overlord" and stops watching an then make a review about how Ainz Ooal Gown is molesting Albedo or if the person continued and thought why not try episode 2 and found after watching that Ainz has a child like vampire ,Shalltear Bloodfallen, who is horny for him and therefor assumed he is a molester .Even though SAO and "Overlord" are both amazing anime the person who made the review of SAO and "Overlord" didn't fully watch it so he/she made a opinion base on what he/she just watched. You in my own opinion did the same thing and didn't keep on watching its to the very end making you misunderstand the anime entirely making your review base on that one episode, episode 5, that you just saw and in my opinion saying"I seriously don't know what to say about this show. It's pretty incredibly disgusting. I'm pretty much only watching it to get angry now. This is honestly one of the worst, most shallow, vapid shows I've ever seen in my life." is over the top because if you didn't like this then if you watched "Isekai wa Smartphone to Tomo ni" then your statement would fit .In some cases you could even compare SAO and "Overlord" to "Death March kara Hajima Isekai Kyousoukyoku" because Kirigaya Kuzuto ,Kirito, even though weak in the beginning like Suzuki they both became strong over time and like Ainz has over whelming power that would and could destroy the world if motivated to.In addition to that Kirito has a low key harem with girls flocking to him and even his cousin/sis [incest much] and you say Death March is disgusting even though Kirito cousin loves him, not in a cousin way, and eventually accidentally sleeping next to Kirito and yet you didn't trash talk SAO saying "I seriously don't know what to say about this show. It's pretty incredibly disgusting."
"Then they go to a hotel room and strip to have sex with him, because they clearly used to be sex slaves. He's like 'You don't need to do that anymore' and the show once again presents him as being a hero, meanwhile he's like 29 and chose not to sleep with an 11 year old. Then in his sleep, the 11 year old casts a charm spell on him and gets on him naked because she 'apparently' got horny and wanted to service him, and the show shows him 'heroically' overpower the mind control and not have sex with a kid, and then they sleep in bed together, her naked." IN my thought after reading this I really believe you didn't understand what happened in this part of the episode and just assume because it's in our nature to assume and fill in the blanks but I truly think you didn't think at all when writing the last part where is says "and the show shows him 'heroically' overpower the mind control and not have sex with a kid, and then they sleep in bed together, her naked." If you think about it for just a moment you can just assume she sneak into his bed the first time to cast the charm spell then after he tells her no to having sex she could probably just sneak back into his bed a second time if it wasn't so hard the first time why would it be the second its not like he has a skill to detect people while asleep and also she isn't 11 years old remember she was reincarnated so in body she is 11 or so but in mind she is older. Its like saying if a person is 40 years old but still has a body of a 20 year old then would the person be 20 years old because that person has a body of a 20 year old, the answer is No the person is still 40 years old.
In conclusion I think you should delete the original review and make a second one rethinking really hard about what you say and I know that the review has 321 people that it was helpful, I'll admit at first I was one of them, but I started watching the show and that your review had some errors in them and I would be very grateful if you made a new review on it and if you next time fully watch the whole show and try to gather enough information in which there would be no denying if a anime is trash. And most likely the people would clicked helpfulness read your review and didn't even try the anime.
Honestly, Hyouka might be one of my favorite KyoAni shows aside from Clannad Afterstory (which I don't even like saying cause way too many people say that), and Hibike! Euphonium. Mostly because I was a band kid and it's way too relatable.
He accused me of not liking his favorite show and called my favorite out for being having a shitty 'read the manga ending' as well, to which he eventually deleted the message after I gave him factual proof that my show did not fall into the same pitfalls, and threatened to report him seeing how he's harassed you and other people for stuff like this. The period he left behind is all I have left to remember him by. (Though between you and me, I think his favorite shows are all kind of garbage.)
Hi, you probably don't know me, but the guy below you has started to spark a flame war with me too. If he continues to create these long text walls denouncing your opinion and analysis of shows, remember that this is considered as a reportable offense since it is technically harassment. I will do the same if he continues with me.
Yet you give SAO a 7, which by MAL that's good, Im pretty sure you're a tad butthurt because everyone criticizes SAO and let this show passa by.
Most sure yet everyone who found your review helpfull were jst isekai haters, because your point is kinda meh, I'll try to get this to a civilized debate, so I'll refute your review here.
"he basically instantly has access to debug skills and can immediately max all of his skills, yet for some reason only ever maxes them right before he needs them. Like, he'll have a conversation and be like 'Oh Crap, I should max diplomacy now so I can convince them', even though he may as well just make himself Superman right away."
His skill points(if you know what that is) are really huge, but they're not unlimited. Other important thing is, he DOES NOT wish to stand out, even though he is the most stronger person until now. He does not wish to be a superman, just a plain guy and ENJOY the world he's in. As a proggramer myself, I know he has a very drawn routine and being taken to another world, he wish to just enjoy life with all regalies he's gotten, be a Meteor Fall skill, or the ability to persuade everyone. nextttt
"The show gets weirdly hung up on things like turning into momentary food porn or getting oddly fixated buying new clothes and dressing up the harem girls. It is really not focused at all and keeps bouncing back and forth between seemingly random things, yet the vibe is really all to service the idea that these harem girls are essentially pets."
Don't see you noticed, but this is kinda Slice of Life show, of course they would spend much time into little things like shopping, that does not interfere much with the plot. Also, YOU are the weird one there, no one see the girls as pets, YOU are finding malice where there is none.
"From what I've seen the show's general tone is 'look how awesome and kind he is, now lets dress up these girls and feed them and let everyone know how indebted to him they are'. But the weirdest thing is, his harem is made up of pretty much all slaves. So, their owners are defeated (or he buys some of them), and then he doesn't free them, but he keeps them as slaves, yet the show presents this as a good/kind thing to do. They've essentially stated that the girls couldn't handle being free, so the kind thing to do is keep them as slaves, but be nice to them and give them lots of treats. So he orders them around and raises their skills, and buys them presents, or gives them money to buy presents, and then lets them sleep in a stable. It is so fundamentally bizarre that all his actions keep getting presented as the noble thing. "
I don't know if you have studied story, but Satoo had, so I'll get a real long text here. The time is around 1800 and slavery was still legal in a country called Brazil, people were fighting, with much influence from Brittain, to set the slaves free, in order to get them to be workers and buyers for their factories. Much time passed and in 1888 princess Isabel signs the Aura law, which set the slaves free. Well, they got free, but that was all theory, sure, they stopped taking slaps with whips and setting they free were morally and commercially a good thing. But in truth, deep inside they were still slaves because they had them to work as much as before at the factories and getting hardly enough to survive. I gave this example from the country I live in, I have no idea where you're from, but I'm pretty sure something similar occurred on the USA too. What I want to say is that he IS being kind to them, setting they free and decide them to follow him or not would be a morally good decision? Yes, it would be, but maybe for these young girls, that were only slaves, with no talent for anything(except combat and that's only Liza), there would be a chance where they would be treated badly and that sort of thing, expecially them, as they are "human-animals"(don't know the term used on english sub, I watch in portuguese) and they're are baddly seen by society in that world, just like the racism with black people on our own real world. Then, going to another point, he gives gifts to them because he sees ALL OF THEM, as his children, he let they sleep at the stable that few nights and that was temporary, I don't know weather you have seen the nexts episodes or not, but he's searching for a house to buy, or maybe as I think it will happen, they're going to wander that world on a carriage, just like the ED gives an idea.
"But then things get especially weird in Episode 5 when he gets 2 more slaves who are super young, one of which is 11 and I think the other is 14. Then they go to a hotel room and strip to have sex with him, because they clearly used to be sex slaves. He's like 'You don't need to do that anymore' and the show once again presents him as being a hero, meanwhile he's like 29 and chose not to sleep with an 11 year old. Your review is the funny one here jaja. I tried to not get personal to you here, but I'm sorry, I think you're one one those bastards, who do wrong things with a friend, then get caught and omits your part to let him be punished alone... The way you omit facts and make that scene be treated as pure idioticy is very amusing. Also I can't see if you haven't seen, but he felt asleep middle conversation and SHE slept with him naked, he did not choose it, nor wanted it. He likes mature woman. I wonder how one gets angry at anime???? This is not School Days or a romantic show with retarded protagonist.
Just this last one.
" It also has a surprisingly great first episode before immediately descending into everything that follows."
The first episode, except for his past world part, is pretty bad imo. He appears on a valley and uses the meteor skill with that strange CGI. The show gets good from only a few episodes latter. I really see you're just butthurt because you liked SAO and this show is being more well seen by the people.
As a last note,
"Secondly, you said 'Slavery existed in the real world'. Yeah it did. But in what media is child sex slavery treated so casually and almost like a punchline?"
It is said, neither Arisa nor Lulu ever slept with any man before, Arisa also only did that because, well who knows, she is just that typo of character, the pervert, even though, that can be justified because she also is a 30(around that) woman inside, just like Satoo is 29 inside.
"The main character bounces back and forth between being a father figure and then sleeping naked with these kids. Ultimately, it is just very weird and incredibly creepy."
When did HE take the iniciative to sleep with her naked? Answer my question and I'll say you have this point, thing is, SHE slept with him naked that other day, next days they do not show they sleeping anymore, so you can not assume he sleeps with them all the time. Also I don't know but, as far as I know, then you're sleeping, you're fucking sleeping, you're not aware of what is happening around, unless you have a real fragile sleep.
" It also has a surprisingly great first episode before immediately descending into everything that follows." Fair enough, if you fiund a good point, you're not allowed to rate 1.
You're just exageratting, my opinion, just like the guy who gave 10 was. Haters often needs attention, like they're screaming, "hi that show is trash and I have no points to say that is trash imo"
Had you not exageratted and had given a decent rating, like a 4 or 5, your review could be taken seriously, I'm sorry again but. HIGH RATING TO GAMERS???? THAT SHOW IS SO CRAP THAT I HAD NOT EVEN PUT ON MY MAL, DEATH NOTE, SAME THING.
Like you said, your opinion does not threaten my existence, but I feel angry, when someone gives 1 to an anime I like with NO GOOD REASON FOR except for hating and jealously. Do not wish to disscuss SAO here, but you say it did various things good??? Not a single, it tries to mix various stuffs and genres into one single anime and it ends being pretty bad.
jajajaja saying Death March s bad because it's kinda realistic???? Slavery existed in our own real world if you knows and it still exists in one form or another, yet you must live in a fantasy world maybe? with ponys and steven universes probrably jajajajajaja go grow up kid and enjoy a good anime for what it is. Also I can see you're a SAO fan jajajaja that anime is trash compared to Death March. You're just jealous people found Death March better and your show gets criticized.
I only have watched 3 episodes of Death March and I'm dumbfounded as you are. Don't worry I'll be joining you on completing the anime, even if it hurts to watch.
