Well that's what the VN is for lol, but yeah I tend to agree that anime should take their time to explain things in their own pace, instead of being tied to a tight schedule, though that's practically impossible.
Hey, I read your review and want to answer the questions for HF, though I have only read the VN, I haven't seen the second and third movie yet.
1. If I am correct, the Archer in the Fate route actually was not at full power, because Saber had injured him in the beginning of that route, and Archer still took out most of Berserkers lives off in the fight. Shirou also used a stupid amount of mana against Berserker alter and was able to take him out, because Illya had distracted berserker for a second, which gave Shirou the perfect opportunity to just stab the shit out of Berserker. Shirou otherwise would just be dead meat if Illya weren't there.
2. Are you talking about casters dagger or the sword that Rin used? Otherwise I will explain the sword. The gem sword wasn't used in the other routes, because It essentially wasn't needed and would have taken a long ass time to create it. The gem swords blueprints were passed down the Tohsaka family by a man named Zelretch, who used it in his youth. This sword can create an infinite amount of dimensions in which the person using it can grab the sword from the other dimension and use its abundant amount of magical energy again and again. I think as to why Rin could keep up with the shadows, is because they were controlled by Sakura, who is still quite inexperienced with this new power and the sword can also be long range, by shooting a large light beam of magical energy.
3. The simple explanation is that she sacrificed herself to seal the gate, so Angra Mainyu would not leak in to the world. This only could be done with Illya, because she is the holy grails vessel. There is a waaaay lengthier explanation I believe so, though I don't remember It.
4. Essentially, Illya used the heavens feel (the dress) she had on shirou to save him. The heavens feel allows the soul to not disperse away after the body is destroyed and Illya put Shirous soul in an incomplete puppet body. After a few years he grows the puppet body in the image of his memory and can only now survive with Sakura giving him magical energy so he can keep living. (I had to look this up, because I had forgotten how the Heavens Feel works lol).
Though that's the problem with anime movies, they usually only care about showing the core plot, but not caring if it makes sense, but I don't blame them for choosing this decision. A lot of the explanations about the Heavens feel and Holy grail were quite confusing and quite long.
You gave BNHA which is one of the most generic anime out there an 8/10 while giving a great show like Ansatsu Kyoushitsu which has better characters and story a 5/10?! You also gave a silent voice which is arguably better than Kimi no Na Wa a 7/10? I mean BNHA is pretty decent and Kimi no Na Wa is great in my opinion but you gave better shows lower scores? You really need to up your rating man.
Just putting this into a spoiler thing just in case some random bystander scrolls down your profile. It is about your Madoka review btw.
I would just like to say I have no idea why you don't think Madoka's ending isn't bittersweet at all. Madoka erasing herself from existence and the world still basically having a different from of witches where the cycle based off knowledge of the show is just bound to repeat again not bittersweet? If anything it is tragic because that means Madoka's wish really didn't do anything but erase her own self. Just really wanting to point that little detail out lol.
you're welcome. i enjoyed the show, and thought it was smashing good. but i read your review and was like. "i get it" you're not wrong. the ending was... expected. i just needed one line and it would have been pretty good. and as far as it leaving details ambiguous? i like that in shows. most of the time in trying to explain how something goes about they end up just ruining it. "YOU WERE BETTER OFF JUST SAYING ITS MAGIC!" its far more believable. i dont need my hand held. im not saying you do! im just saying i appreciate when shows dont do that. anyways... my bad for babbling.
