Hmm, movies & OVAs… that's broad. Cencoroll and Hoshi no Koe are about 25 minutes long and have really interesting animation and stories. Otherwise you can't go wrong with Studio Ghibli (you might like Nausicaä) or with Makoto Shinkai.
Well, someone else from the challenge recommended something else, but Baccano is up there among my next shows to watch now. The premise sounded interesting to me already, and now I want to see how this storytelling works. Also thanks for the advice to watch it dubbed. I watch quite a ton of shows subbed just because they don't get dubbed or the dub is fubar. But it makes sense it's better to watch something set in the US dubbed, that's my experience with Kekkai Sensen, one of the shows Funimation's been broadcast-dubbing (it is also supernatural and set in NYC, but really over-the-top wacky).
Hi! Saw you watched Kokoro Connect for the anime watching challenge, and just possibly were influenced by me. How did you like it? I mean, I absolutely loved the characterisations, and if it stayed as good as the first arc I'd rate it higher. And, any movies or 1-cour anime series you'd recommend for me? I never bothered to ask for a recommendation for the challenge ;)
