5 things you must check before buying a laptop:
1. Keypad - Make sure the keys are nice large keys, (especially the arrow keys since they're often overly small) Check that the key to key layout are spaced out well and not cluttered together. Make sure the keys are firm to press (you do not want flabby keys)
2. Mouse - Make sure the mouse is easy and smooth to scroll and it feels good to the fingers. (I generally like the mouse positioned near the center as it's more comfortable) Make sure the left click/right click mouse buttons are firm to press (I recommend you get laptops with the buttons padded separately from the mouse)
3. Speakers - Most people tend to forget to check this one, cause it is not something visual you can see. Check the speakers and see if it's loud enough and the sound is clear and sharp.
4. Design, Screen, Screen size - Pick a nicely designed laptop with a screen that produces a sharp image, and has the screen size you want. (I like larger screen sized laptops)
5. Function - More money equals better functions. Functions are usually higher RAM memory and better pc cards, etc... Spend accordingly.
