A note on my ratings of anime:
If an anime actually entertained me, as in I didn't glance at the clock to see how much was left in an episode, it didn't get lower than a Five, and probably didn't get lower than a six.
Ten requires an anime to be more than just entertaining but thought provoking and impressive in its creativity or presentation.
Nine typically means I was hooked to the point of anticipating when the next episode would arrive (rare for me), and that particular anime probably has at least one fundamentally impressive trait coupled with solid presentation in other areas.
Five through Eight do NOT have to be groundbreaking, and in fact anything in this area could be cliche or a downright ripoff of something better. But they do have to be entertaining on some level. Hence, anime rankings I have assigned in this range have more than a dash of personal preference in their calculation. To put it bluntly, these are the values you are most likely to disagree with. So take them with a grain of salt, and make sure it looks like you have a similar taste in anime to myself before you set your viewing schedule using them.
One through Four represent anime that were somewhere between boring and gouge-your-eyes-out-terrible. Being I typically take the advice of others on what not to watch, there aren't very many of these on here. If you see something in this range on my list, there is probably a pretty solid reason to avoid it.
Hope my list helps a few people decide what to queue up in netflix, though its mostly for my benefit. If you really disagree with a rating or review of mine, please leave a comment with your opinion. On occasion another person's perspective has changed my mind on an anime/tv show/movie, so if I need to be set straight fire away (civilly, please, its just cartoons afterall, no reason to be a jerk ;) ).

I hear a lot of people cry at the ending..
I completely agree with you about the first half. The transition between episode 5 and 6 looks rushed to me.
It should have focused completely on the story or on the characters, not a half of each.
Never mind about movie sequels. Higashi no Eden self-destructed.
The first couple of episodes were perfect as the setting and characters are perfectly established but, due to time constraints, it focused on Reki and had an open ending. There were a few scenes in Rakka's arc that were unnecessary.
I actually do think that stetching this to 24 episodes or having movie sequel would have made this series into a masterpiece.
Everything has not been explored and fleshed out.
Regardless of my opinion, I do respect your views.
