Yeah, I noticed that there seems to be a growing trend in sports anime lately. I think shows like Kuroko no Basket and Free! opened up a big can of worms in that regard.

I remember a few years ago the biggest trend in anime was moe. Production studios like A-1 and Kyoto Animation were putting out a crap ton of moe anime that seemed to be immensely popular.

I actually wish there would be a few more of those "mindfuck" anime series made nowadays. It seems like most anime series that are released nowadays are relatively simple. The last "mindfuck" anime I think I've seen is Shinsekai yori and I don't think I can recall the anime before that. Believe or not, I haven't seen Serial Experiments Lain, but I sure as hell want to whenever I get some free time opened up. I've been so busy the last six months that I barely have time to watch the anime on my list.

I've heard of Akira, Blue Submarine No.6, Neon Genesis Evangelion! Haven't heard of the other ones, but I will definitely check it out! Thanks for the list, it's the perfect amount to add to my PTW :) Ahh, why does there have to be so much anime to watch xD

I watched a few episodes of it but personally i don't think any animes invluding shiki and higurashi can top Corpse party. Corpse party really made me paranoid and sleepless for nights ;-; Did you enjoy it? :) i added berserk to my to watch list! Thank you for the recommendation! I have heard people speak highly of both ghost in the shell and akira! Ill make sure to check them out ^^

I think i have to reccomend you my favorite anime of all time, Steins;Gate. It talks about scientific theories, time travel, and also has a dash of romance :) it has a slow start but the story development is so powerful that the ending blows you away! xD

Anime is "trendy." It seems like there are certain trends in anime. I noticed there was quite a few sci-fi anime released in the mid-to-late 90s.

I was referring to the anime. In terms of anime, Armitage came out in February of 1995 while the Ghost In The Shell anime movie came out in November of the same year.
