Why did I give Haruka's Secret a four? Oh. Well, uh, give me a minute to prepare my fingers, because you're getting one long rant.
FIRST AND FOREMOST: CHARACTERS
The characters in the anime are atrocious.
- The male lead is as boring as the WWE on a good day. He's also an unrealistic, unreliable, unentertaining, uninspiring, unsmart, overly oblivious piece of goat milk. He does absolutely nothing except be nice to the female lead to get her affection and frankly doesn't deserve anything that conveniently is placed on his lap during the anime.
- The female lead is worse. She's unentertaining, unreliable, uninspiring, unsmart... wait, just copy/paste what I said about the male lead and put it here, except where you add the part where she also has no trust toward the male lead whatsoever, which makes her a terrible romantic figure.
- The female lead's maids and sisters are what completely break the anime for me. Everything they do is pointless and only for the purpose of their own sick desire to see teenagers swoon through puberty. Not to mention that everything they try to achieve through plot related comic relief is 1. Not funny, and 2. Unrealistic. They have one set personality and it's set to stupid.
- Another thing that irks me about the characters is the oh-so-obvious sexism that takes place during the entire anime. Whenever Haruka gets sad, it's always Yuuto's fault. Whenever Haruka's father tries to slow down the relationship between Haruka and Yuuto, he's shunned upon and ruthlessly assaulted by all women in the anime because he makes sense. Oh, no, we wouldn't want this anime to make sense, therefore, we shun all characters who make sense. That is, men. Women rule this anime.
NEXT AT BAT: PLOT
What is a plot?
Good question, because this anime sure doesn't know what one is. Remember what the synopsis says? How Yuuto has to keep Haruka's secret (loltitledrop) from the educational system that they reside in? How she's a giant otaku nerd? Remember how in episode three, she reveals to one of the most recognized students in the school that she is an otaku nerd? Yeah, I do. The anime doesn't, because it continues to think that no one knows, but I know. I saw it. I swear on my life that I saw it. Why would the popular student not tell anybody about it? That doesn't make sense. After episode three, there is no plot. It's just another 23 (27 if you count the OVAs) episodes of older women trying to get two teenagers to kiss and all that icky stuff. Oh, and fan service; lots of that, too.
THIRD TIMES THE CHARM, RIGHT?: SOUND
DADADADADADADADADADADADADADADA
Okay, so the music in Haruka's Secret is one I didn't pay attention to the entire time, admittedly, so this is only based on what I had heard throughout the series. This is what I heard:
- Sad scene: OH-HUM. VIOLIN AND DRAMATIC PIANOS. MHMHMHMHMHMHMHMH
- Happy scene: YAY! POP!
Rinse and repeat like a never-ending laundry cycle.
This is what I experienced with the series. This may be over-exaggerated, which it probably is, but it's what I remember.
OH, BOY: FINALE!
Basically to wrap it up, it's just a very cliche series. Everything about this series is dedicated to one, MAYBE two demographics of people. Little girls and Adult males. Y'know, kind of like My Little Pony. Only those in these demographics of people (And I'm generalizing here) would find any enjoyment out of this series. I wasn't one of them. So, to answer your question, I didn't like the series because it didn't match up with my interests, but the giant wall of text above could also suffice for an explanation, right? Right. I apologize in advance if this was too much for you to read. I was just giving you a proper explanation as to why I hateloathewant to kill dislike this series. But judging from how you phrased the question, I can assume that you enjoyed the series. So I'll respond as such: Why did you enjoy the series?
