Hi I'm Chrissy and I've been a bit MIA for like... half a decade. Fun how the time flies. I teach 4th grade these days, which has been my favorite teaching stint so far. My time is consumed with running mock elections and grading analytical essays, but once in awhile I come back to go digging for a new manga.
I update this occasionally just to prove that I still exist (current date: March 26, 2025.) After heading to Katsucon this winter, I've been struck by the urge to return to my roots and am going through a bit of a personal anime Renaissance. It's been very kind of the good shows to stack up over the years - I've been pleasantly surprised by the ability to watch 5 anime in a row and... more or less enioy all of them? What is this, 2012?
I did go back to see if Toradora held up recently and it does. I maintain my ironclad belief that it's the best romcom of all time, Japanese or otherwise, and that my opinion is completely untinted by nostalgia glasses. As for the rest of the stuff on the favorites list... I'm not sure I'm willing to check. I'd wager Spice & Wolf, Kino's Journey, Utena, and Anne stand the test though, at the very least.
Reviews
Here's my list scale:
1 - I irrationally hate it.
2 - Either spectacularly dull or I irrationally hate it.
3 - Probably outsourced.
4 - American Cheese. I eat it when no one's looking but I've never felt good about it.
5 - Parmesan Cheese. Delicious in the right moment, but needs something to go with it,
6 - Mozzarella Cheese. Worth going out of your way to add it to your cheese platter.
7 - Extra Sharp Cheddar Cheese. Honestly why are you not eating it already?
8 - I have probably just like one actual gripe with it, and it's usually the fact that it's not literally cheese.
9 - A Deep-Dish Eight-Cheese Pizza with Triple Cheese and Cheese Sauce Instead of Tomato Sauce.
10 - The only thing better than cheese.
Feel free to leave a comment about anything! I don't always respond in a timely fashion, but I assure you I will eventually. That's why I'm on here after all, to talk about these things that I like.

I am physically incapable of listening to almost all dubs if I watch the sub for at least 5 minutes, so that was no surprise to me.
As of what I've watched that's been enjoyable (lately) there is, of course, One Piece, but I don't see you watching 1000 episodes to get to the best bits. Otherwise, the last anime I particularly enjoyed was Hunter x Hunter (that your review inspired me to watch!), but you've already seen that too. The best anime of the Winter season have definitely been Dr Stone and Apothecary Diaries, but some have really, really enjoyed Solo Levelling, which I can't seem to understand.
I'd love to go to Katsucon... but I'm based in London, which pretty much squanders any chance I may have had. Now might be the best or worst time to come back to anime depending on how prepared one is to hop onto the One Piece hype train. We'll see how it goes, eh?
