Hmm, Natsume fan, eh? Planning to watch the newest season that just aired? For me it started going down hill after Zoku (probably my favourite season), apparently Go is the weakest of them so far which has me rather reluctant to start watching it.
To put it bluntly, the movie sucks. For instance, it doesn't even explain why Humbert is the way he is. It's totally rushed and is an utterly poor adaptation, atop this you have the lack of Nabokov's beautiful prose (one of the main things that makes the book such a great read).
Honestly, I hated the movie, soured my taste even. I gave it a low 4/10, generous if I am to be so frank. Definitely give the book a read.
Ah, that's a shame. Alice is great, often dismissed as 'just a child's book' or looked down upon due to poor movie adaptations. Great world building, great story, nice themes and amazing political satire to top it all off. Alice is probably more appreciated when read at an older age rather than when you are callow. You miss out on a lot of the humour and satire hidden behind the fantasy facade; themes too. Maybe give it another shot?
Hm, I don't really read much coming of age stuff, so I can't really give any good recommendations in that department. But I'll still give some recommendations.
My favourite book is Lolita by Nabokov; something I highly recommend.
Alice's Adventures in Wonderland is also one of my favourites too (although you may have already read this, more likely so than Lolita).
Yeah, probably one of the only reasons why the ratings are much lower.
Yes. Let's just say it goes from one type of love to another.. It's quite disturbing in all honesty. I think it's around chapter 24 where it starts to go wrong.
Nice. It's a nice show, simple but effective. Well I'm glad in a way that it doesn't have more episodes, I've read the manga for it and well.. it turns into something quite.. different to say the least.
I see, I haven't watched any of the shows that you're watching right now. I've been thinking about watching Honey and Clover at some point in the future, maybe in the upcoming months. I'm pretty much just coming out of a slump with anime, just easing myself back into the medium from quite a long break. During my break with anime I've read a lot of manga and actual literature. Do you read many books yourself?
