As for Mawaru... I think it's taking a "show now, explain in extremely detailed and philosophical symbolism later" approach.
It's directed by Ikuhara Kunihiko, he's a guy who's known for an anime called Revolutionary Girl Utena, which is made up of about 80% symbolism and 20% extreme character deconstruction.
Mawaru Penguindrum started airing.
I am happy.
It would've helped if they at least explained why certain things changed.
