You left a comment on a dead account that was really weird. You are like asking to be impressed and it's everyone else duty too. First, I assume you are an Anime enthusiast but then you yourself gave Overlord an 8. Which is story wise consider another power fantasy. You are a weird individual.
I would be really eager to know where you got this information from, perhaps from an afterword or sth? Could you possibly provide me with that info? Because I will be laughing my ass off if this actually turns out to be true.
Hi there-- I have not watched the death march anime. My novel review is from 2016, before anything other than the novel existed.
I'll just put this here since apparently I got comments between 2016 and now 2020: For me, comparing the Overlord novel with the Death March novel is like comparing apples and oranges. In my mind Death March the novel is a satire that knows it's a satire, while Overlord is trying to be a dark dramatic intelligent drama. While SAO is... just bad lol. I wouldn't judge Overlord as a comedy just in the way that I wouldn't judge Death March as a serious novel.
An objective rating from my part would be a 7.5/10. But that review would never have made it to the front page if I had rated it as such. I believe reviews are supposed to be judged by their content rather than by the score. But most of the users upvote reviews based on the score. I wanted many people to read my opinion about the show. So I did this little experiment.
Besides, there is no single "flawless perfect show" that can be given a 10/10. No matter how good an anime is, there is always something that you can criticise it for. By that logic, no anime can be given a 10/10 and I would be limiting the range of my ratings. So I rate shows based on my personal enjoyment above anything else. ( The reviews have different, more objective ratings, but SAO was an experimental exception).
