Yeah - the series is based on the two-part visual novel. EF: A Fairy Fairy of the Two.
I want to read the visual novels first though and then see how well the anime is adapted to it, which is why I'm saving Little Busters and Air to watch later. :)
Oh, and lol, I need update my list. I should clarify - I've watched every single film by Studio Ghibli and read all the visual novels by KEY, which is why I put them in the 3 groups that have made me cry. So I've already read Kanon (also already watched the anime), Air, Little Busters, etc. Grave of the Fireflies.
Elfen Lied didn't make me cry, just chronically depressed and cringe in pain at some of the more gory scenes. 5 cm per second almost did, especially at the end when they could no longer see each other, but the tears won't come out. Probably because I've experienced something similar and I've already cried those tears too much in the past.
But I've heard some really good things about the ef series. I read a lot of VNs and I've been recommended that by a ton of people. So I'm not sure if I should touch the anime before I read the VN, though.
I've also heard really good things about True Tears - some say it is even more tear-inducing than Clannad and even Clannad AS. XD
Haven't heard about the rest - Chrono Crusade, Saikano, or Now and Then, Here and There. I'll add those to my list of PTW.
Thanks! It's a well-thought out list and I appreciate you putting it together for me XD
I'll watch InK, don't worry. I just want to finish reading JJB first, which should be sometime this week or next week. I'll put InK next alongside Future Diary.
As for tear-inducing anime, so far there are only 3 groups of anime that have ever made me cry:
Group 1 belongs to Studio Ghibli and all its glory
Group 2 belongs to works by KEY from Clannad AS to Angel Beats
Group 3 is not a group, rather just a single anime series, but this doesn't belong to either lol. GTO - the only non-romance anime that has ever made me cry.
I don't really think there was any other anime that made me do that. And for anime labeled as emotional, I always try my hardest to cry. And it's always disappointing when the tears don't come out. That's why I've said I've been feeling like a robot lately.
So I am also looking for tear-inducing anime. I know you said you've watched nearly every anime out there with the potential to make one cry. Would love it if you could recommend some!
If you're familiar with Studio Ghibli, then I'm sure you know there are tons of movies out there that are tear-inducing. I've watched quite a lot of them :)
Speaking of which - I've read that if you liked Clannad and Clannad AS, you'll love Itazura na Kiss. What are your personal thoughts on this? Does it have the same tear-inducing effect to a more or lesser extent?
Of course, I was curious! I always love anything that could make me cry, as I've been feeling a bit like an emotionless robot lately. I want to prove I'm still human XD

Do you read visual novels?
