Just your average everyday weeaboo who is for some reason reviewing cartoons (I should really get a job).
What my scores mean:
10: As close to perfection as it gets. Somehow has influenced me to change or reflect on myself. Major characters have superb development, and/or an immense amount of depth. These characters actions dictate the plot and the overall outcome of the story. The plot is rich with it's outstanding use of story telling through exposition, exploration of themes, pacing, and conflict. This anime/manga can be atmospheric, or have gripping plot twists to a sudden change in tone/character(this can apply to atmosphere as well), etc. It has very minor flaws or none at all.
9: Similar to a 10, it can be influencing or cause self reflection; however it is not necessary. The major difference between a 9 and a 10 is whether or not important characters had enough development or influenced the plot. The plot is fairly close to that of a 10 but doesn't express it's themes to the point of being as emotionally gripping as a 10 would. These anime/manga can be atmospheric, have intense plot twists or have any other standard fare story telling element. The flaws are minor.
8: This anime/manga usually isn't anything outside of being an anime/manga with great writing. Major characters are developed and can contain some amount of depth. The plot can be weak in one area but be supported through it's other categories. Doesn't need, but usually has some sort of story telling element that adds a certain flare to the anime/manga separating it from being below an 8.
7: This is a good anime/manga that is still recommendable. There can be some flaws which cause certain drawbacks in story or characters. Usually not all of the main characters are developed and only some have depth to them. Could be a pretty funny comedy or a more serious anime with plot hole or two. I think it's just overall "good", but not the best thing I've ever seen.
6: We are getting as close to average as my rating system gets. I usually won't recommend this unless I know whomever I might be recommending this to adores this kind of anime/manga. Many ecchi and harems will be within a 6 or below. Another prime example of a 6 is a shounen with too many moments of using a deus ex machina. plot holes are more then likely eminent if the anime/manga is not a comedy. Just a bit above average is all this anime/manga is. Not anything I would want to own unless I perhaps changed my opinion of it overtime.
5: This is absolutely average. Nothing interesting about this at all. Most likely slice of life, ecchi, or harem. Can be a shounen that is too average for my tastes or a try hard, edgy seinen. I won't be recommending this anime/manga anytime soon. there are just too many flaws to be overlooked or there is no plot in the first place
4: I can why maybe someone tried to attempt making this anime/manga. The writer isn't insane at this point and maybe they just didn't plan their story out correctly. Some parts of the plot may have been enjoyable for a moment. I most likely didn't hate every character and thought one or two were "ok". This is your typical harem/ecchi or a garbage shounen/seinen that had something going for it but managed to screw up somewhere along the way or just tried way too hard at containing "depth" through violence or deus ex machinas
3: I'm not exactly sure what the writer was thinking when they wrote this. There is literally no character development or even characterization for that matter. I am almost certain I didn't like any character except for maybe some minor character who was so stupid they were a tad bit enjoyable. This is surely a harem and/or ecchi most likely combined with a shounen or seinen story as it would be really hard to get me to hate even a garbage harem this much since they at least don't try to take themselves seriously (this is where I break that rule)
2: The writer went on some fan fiction site and managed to take every teenagers wet dream and create a sorry excuse for story telling with it. There is no way that this isn't an ecchi/harem that had the audacity to take itself seriously. How could you in the first place? This is utterly insane. There is no way that running into your cowtits roomate and tripping into them can pass for entertainment...is there?
1: At this point I don't even think I can explain myself. How is this even a thing? The writer probably decided to get drunk while writing this. Actually I take that back. If they did it would most likely prove to be at least a bit entertaining most likely through humour. This anime/manga is literally the unborn child of Stalin and Osama Bin Laden. They weren't even alive at the same damn time! Ok best way to put it is whenever I think about this anime/manga it actually frustrates me and I get psyched out because of it. I like to put things like school days in this category...
