Just some guy of varying interests, including anime. I'm glad to know there's an expansive outlet of varying ratings & criticisms for the many anime titles we enjoy. I've got other accounts regarding music album reviews (Sputnikmusic is a great site) and movie ratings (IMDB) for those interested as well. If one can spend hours watching anime, I know one can also find the time to hear a couple albums or a movie in between.
Rating Interpretation:
10 - FLAWLESS (if not NEAR); anime aesthetic, story (main + subplot[s]) progression, characters (MCs and support), their development, and script (dialogue, narration, exposition, etc) all work in unison fluidly. Timeless quality. Worthy of analyzing for hours. Top recommendations.
9 - AMAZING; just a few hairs short of achieving a 10-rating mainly from personal indifferences.
8 - FANTASTIC; flaws minimal and would recommend even for normies (not anime enthusiasts).
7 - AWESOME; bare minimum of trail-blazer quality. More noticeable flaws. Would hesitate recommending for normies.
6 - PRETTY GOOD; personally not my favorite while recognizing its personal/global impact among anime. Would watch again given the chance.
5 - DECENT; even w/ impact considered has good appeal among noticeable flaws. Lowest tier for home media and repeatable viewing quality.
4 - NEUTRAL; minimum quality standard of a "good" anime.
3 - ODDITY; entering the 'so bad it's good' (inverted 7) or 'close to painful' territory. Viewing can become an annoying chore.
2 - POOR/PAINFUL; few or many qualities of flat/one-trick characters, too much spoonfed exposition, inorganic dialogue, no meaningful character development, too many deus ex machinas, or no/little rewarding plot progression present.
1 - ABYSMAL; examples of how NOT to craft a show/movie. Worth only the brownie points of saying 'I watched that...'
