I'm not entirely sure what I'm supposed to say here, but I guess I'll focus on myself as an anime fan rather than a person
I got into anime at the age of 12. My friend gave me a Death Note DVD and i sat down, turned it on, not expecting much. It was... Odd, kind of like i had instantly become a different person, I wouldn't have said I instantly became an otaku, no, more like I just had my eyes opened, i was an explorer in this new ocean and i had only touched the surface. It was wonderful.
Time went on and my fandom only grew, watching more series, going to cons and generally adjusting to my otaku nature. In many ways thats still the state I'm in now, I haven't seen a huge amount of series and in many ways I don't consider myself an otaku, but whatever, I'm just a fan of the medium, and proud to be.
