Yeah, I was expecting more from this one too considering that I thought A Woman Called Fujiko Mine did such a good job exploring the characters and the ideas of them but still was alot of fun, I enjoy Jigen's Gravestone in the sense of enjoying a Sin City story. It's stylish, fun and the story's pretty basic but with just enough substance that it's not completely brainless
From what little I know of the new Lupin iii anime, it doesn't seem to fellow the format of these two and doesn't seem to be made by the same people Woman Called Fujiko Mine and Jigen's Gravestone which is fine but I do hope they go back to that style. Either way it's Lupin and Lupin's almost always fun so I'm looking forward to it regardless
I saw your review of the Jigen spin off. I'm more or less on the same boat as you. Not quite as good as The Woman Called Fujiko Mine (In fact I think the 2nd episode of that show that centered around Jigen was better) but still very entertaining. I just really like this style and direction the Lupin iii franchise is going of these noirish, gritty style animes and I hope they make more
