Sure. Light novels are pretty much just regular books, and it is the source material in this case. The manga and anime are both adaptations of the light novel. You would probably know if you read the manga since it's what most people think of as the source material (and it's just a Japanese comic book, with panels and pictures and such). For example, here is an excerpt from the manga, and here is an excerpt of the light novel.

I would recommend also reading the light novel if you like the manga, as there is more content since it's the original source and the translations have recently become more frequent. If you want, you can read it and check when new chapters are translated here
