I wish you a happy birthday.

Yeah, I've been recently watching some (more like binging) a lot of Italian films from Gothic 60s horror movies (Lady Morgan's Vengence, The Blancheville Monster), 70s poliziotteschi (Savage Three, Colt 38, Like Rabid Dogs), and the entire Sartana series whihc is a pretty good spaghetti western series.

Yeah, I want to review a lot of stuff but lately I've been so busy with my projects + other projects with the label + daily job and personal life... been really hard. It's great! Surprised me. I see I didn't sent my last reply, probably forgot hitting "send".. but summarizing, I have stuff similar to that song you sent, but I have to find when I have time to check through my HDs, too many files, more than 30k artists and I don't even keep stuff you can find streaming.

Hell yeah, man! I had a feeling you would get it. I knew you would love every single face shredding minute of Tokyo Fist. It's a mix of Fight Club and Raging Bull, but drenched in acetone and battery acid. While Fight Club is a pretty good movie, Tokyo Fist is a movie created by someone who LOVES film for people who LOVE film.

You gotta start mentioning Yang around them, his films are a need to watch.

When you watch Tokyo Fist, I hope it blows you away like it did me. It's so kinetic and wild, his frenzied way of moving the camera and making his scenes feel like they're ripping out of the celluloid are inspiring, to say the least. Denchu-Kozo is one of the first films that made me realize that a low budget can still produce something unique and inventive. I have a boxset of his that has 10 of his films and it has been a feast for the eyes since I got it. It even came with a slick Tetsuo poster

I agree, despite me saying Taipei Story is his magnum opus, his entire filmography is almost on all the same level save for his more amateurish works, but even they have their merits. Outside of film buffs, Yang is so criminally unspoken and underdiscussed in the conversation of cinema. I wish more people watched him and spoke of his greatness.

Also I noticed the Tetsuo the Iron Man picture. I think Shinya Tsukamoto is a master of film. Tokyo Fist is one of my favorites of all time.

Don't feel disingenuous, I've only seen As Tears Go By, Fallen Angels, In the Mood for Love, and two of his short films. I think if you truly truly wanna watch the rest of his movies, you're a fan. Honestly, I know you say that you start from the beginning of a director's filmography, but honestly for Hou, I'd say to start from Millennium Mambo and Flowers of Shanghai.

Edward Yang is fantastic. I have his three big films on bluray. I might be in the minority, but i think Taipei Story is his magnum opus.

Hell yeah, man. I didn't expect as many people as there have been on here that know of Tsai Ming-Liang. I'd suggest, if you haven't already, to watch Hou Hsiao-Hsien and Wong Kar-Wai

Sounds crazy shit! Thanks so much, I didn't know it.

Oh, I sent you an invitation for a private club, check it out.
Kraanerg Oct 1, 2022 3:15 PM
Ah, thanks! The thing was a bit influenced by Tsukamoto and Fukui and other quirky euphoric directors while I tried to give it more of a dream logic pace and atmospherical progression - my main goal was experiment with different styles so I could work the soundtrack to make it very random. I had no actual budget and time, it had to be filmed in a same day since it's really hard to gather people to do anything in here. The results were something between Buttgereit and Troma, perhaps much cheaper though the soundwork and pretentious surrealism makes it more sophisticated in spirit. It feels very controversial I think. I don't know if it's good, I just had the will to film two scenes, the guy being attacked and someone pulling his catheter out, and someome being lynched by bocci players in their little arena thing. The rest was abstractly made up to join both scenes in some weird dreamy enigmatic way. Next thing I'll do will be less "whatever", I wanna do something precise, all b/w. This short film was a test, but one thing I always learn again is whatever I do, I can't fight my impulses on trying improvised new ideas and adding weird nonsense details.

Yeah, I'll write a review on Made in Abyss, there are some reasons I think the show is better than most things being released since its debut.

Tekkaman Blade is fine! Hmm.. lately I watched Made in Abyss, not much else. Though I have a link for my short movie ready, I'll forward you in DM.

HAHAHA that about the film critic was hilarious.
Hmmm the propaganda anime is fun, but only if you have this sense of humor for terrible things LOL it's hideous, I love it
Kraanerg Aug 22, 2022 10:23 AM
Yeah, the OST was online until while ago but I'll be reupdating in my label's bandcamp anytime, probably next year together with more of my filmworks.

Oh, I can't believe people actually watch that in a single try. Lately it's been hard to not fall asleep through 20 minutes anime episodes already...
Kraanerg Aug 3, 2022 11:29 AM
I did soundtrack for a movie featuring Simonetti at some gig's backstage LOL... I'm privileged since I had his music in mind for writing another horror soundtrack theme.

Well, there's no way for me to remember bits of Satantango but only an intense, massive grey feeling through all the hours.
Kraanerg Jul 30, 2022 12:27 PM
Tetsuo is a favorite here too. Satantango is brilliant but be prepared to watch in a thousand sits, I still plan to read the original novel. Love Tarr works. Deep Red is awesome, such a mess of a movie! And Goblin's soundtrack always hits hard.
It’s time to ditch the text file.
