I started seriously watching anime circa 1998. My mundane life took over in 2004 and I hadn't really followed anime, though I still considered it a hobby and held onto my favourites with fervor. Recently I decided to reintroduce myself as a way to escape my mediocre life. And that brought me here.
I don't watch any anime for the sole reason of watching
every anime. I'm persnickety. I usually will know by the first episode if I will continue with a series. I prefer dark action thrillers and crime dramas. It's all about the characters to me! It takes a lot for me to get attached to characters, however, but I am very loyal to my choice few. I even made up my Profile picture (did you get it? Flowers and coffee...?) to represent my two absolute favourites. They are:
Ken Hidaka from
Weiß kreuz
Ken has been my anime crush going on twelve years now. If you visit the link to my Website above you can see more.
L Lawliet from
Death Note
L is a new favourite of mine, only seeing
Death Note at the end of 2010. Unlike Ken, who I love for his normality and how his persona of Siberian affects him throughout the storylines, you actually learn about L's charateristics while you progress through the story yourself. In other words, his strength is that his personality isn't affected by the story. And there's a little something of me that I see in L...the misunderstanding from the social awkwardness and his "all-pro" demenor and harshness and temerity in getting the job done. Plus we both live off of overly-sweetened coffee!
As for manga, I'm not much into. I never got into the pictorial comic book thing. Either I'm reading a book or admiring artwork...I don't understand them both together, I guess. *shrugs*
