Oh wow you've picked up HxH man that's awesome. The 2011 version with I think 149 episodes is the best version as it follows the manga all the way up to an end. I believe I've rewatched the whole series 5 times now, which beats out watching FMA: Brotherhood 4 times so far lol.

Hey how's your health been over the past few years man? I remember you saying you had some serious health issues it's so great to hear from you. Also I've always wanted to ask what are your thoughts on God? I've literally wanted to ask that for years. I've done a lot of introspection, not on any filler or labels I've attached to myself, but peeled all that away to hear the silence and to see that something is watching me watching my thoughts and I had the most unbelievable thing happen.

I had this dream that was unlike any dream I've ever had or ever will have, it was so real and I saw a great stone tomb infront of me, and as I approached it and realized how big it was, I stepped back out of fear of what could possibly be in. Then, the tomb's slab on top of it began to lift off, and turned up facing me so it looked like a door. There were 3 eyes, I say eyes but they were like fractal patterns on this slab, and before my eyes this slab of stone turned into this brilliantly shining intricate stained glass window which then transformed the environment around me into a cathedral. Then the stained glass window dissolved and I gazed out of it into this rift where this figure was floating.

I couldn't make out what s/he looked like but they wore this simple grey robe, but were too distant for me to see what their face looked like.
As I stared, I couldn't even look away this being made it feel like I was a tiny piece of metal in a forge, and the heat was so intense that my very existence and everything I ever knew or was just was being melted to become one with this figure, and before I could resist, I was having trouble remembering who I was and everything was replaced with this limitless joy and love and unity.

I stared for god knows how long out into this rift, and as I did I could see 3 entities of light, just with colours and radiance beyond anything on earth, it's literally impossibly for me to describe them in words but they all shared 1 mind, and were laughing at each other.

Anyways, I was about to take a step towards the rift, but this figure said "Come any closer and you won't be able to return." It took everything in my power to just turn away from this figure, and when I did all the memories of my family and friends flooded back into view and I realized as painful as it was to turn away there was no way I'd leave them all behind. So I went and turned around finally facing away from this robed figure, and as I did he laughed, the stained glass window reappeared, aptly turning back to a stone slab and placing itself back on the stone tomb. As I heard this figure laugh he finally said "Good" and the dream environment returned, and out of the tomb burst a T-rex which chased me down the streets of Nazi Germany.

This was no dream, that feeling of impossibly strong joy and unity and love somehow seemed a million times more real than waking life or the world of dreams, I can't even remember it's intensity but I scribbled down these words as soon as I woke up.

I can't stress enough, using words to even describe what I felt are like a mockery to how intense it was. The heat was so incredibly intense and oppressive that you no longer thought about life, nor would you want to recall it.

Mawaru Penguindrum? How about Shinsekai Yori? Texhnolyze? YES to them all, absolutely adore mawaru and shinsekai yori was something special. Honestly these series are such a joy, and oh I believe you recommended devil man crybaby to me, and I watched that and it's so unbelievably good. The animation, just speaks as loudly as the story and characters. Like, devilman legitimately made me appreciate that sometimes a story is BEST suited and represented in animated media. By the way I am reading Gigant - a manga of the same author as Gantz and Inyuashiki! God DAMN i love a story like this where there's a boy and like a pornstar who moves into the area or gets to know him. So good.

Wow Barlockk I found a most interesting manga called Gigant, by Hiroya Oku! 18 chapters long so far, still ongoing.

Finished Devilman: Crybaby last night in one evening lol. I'm currently reading Devilman Lady manga this is great it's just like Gantz with how violent and crazy it is.
Kitsuen May 26, 2018 12:18 PM
2 words: HOLY SHIT. I just finished the first episode of Devilman: Crybaby and this has to be the most fascinating and beautiful anime I've ever watched. Gonna finish the entire series today just binge watching it.

Oh btw Barl JOJO's Bizarre Adventure is absolutely a masterpiece, not the original anime but the 2012 version which follows the manga to a T.

I don't even know how to describe it other than, if there were a story so horrifically epic that it literally took like 4 generations to complete. Like literally Dio is one of the best designed characters in anime and the dynamic between him and the descendants of Joseph Joestar is disgusting good.
I put it off for years, and as soon as Stardust Crusaders happens it just kicks it into high gear but the setup is also amazing. I've been fanboying so f'n hard over Jojo's Bizarre Adventure holy shit lol

I can't recall but is the atmosphere from the Dark Souls games somehow related to Berserk? I think the director for Dark Souls drew inspiration from Berserk with that level of inescapable dread and he emulated how the heavenly in Berserk are actually more demonic than anything (how he flips that dichotomy of good and evil upside down).

Inuyashiki is great it picks up. Perhaps I'm overly sentimental because its from the same writer as Gantz though lol. Also I recently watched the Gantz live action films and they were brilliant, as is Gantz:O which is a movie based on the Osaka arc of the manga that was phenomenal full of action.

I'll check out Your Name and Devilman and B! Btw that's a very apt description of Berserk you gave, I'm 7 chapters in and I really love the art style. I watched all the animes for it so it's gonna be a fun read.
Kitsuen May 3, 2018 7:40 PM
Hey Barl!! How's it been man? Yeah I watched Inuyashiki, same author as Gantz - Hiroya Oku.
ALSO I finally watched Jojo's Bizarre Adventure up to the 2nd Stardust Crusaders season and it's very good!

It's great to hear from you btw! Oh also Koe no katachi was a brilliant movie I'm sure you've seen it though?

Have you seen any great stuff lately? I've been busy rereading Gantz manga, and I intend to read Berserk's manga as I've put that off for far too long!

Hey Barl, I wondered if you have you seen the anime Mind Game!

I watched it last week, and I think it is truly a masterpiece. The animation is very interesting, but the message is the strongest part of the movie. I think it's only a few minutes in, where there's a text on a cellphone that comes into view.

The reason the series hit me as hard as it did, was because I resembled one of the main characters in the film -this second year at university, I encountered this beautiful girl, who sat beside me in 3/5 of my courses the entire year... and I only found out recently that she does cocaine.

I'm sure you could have guessed back in raiding with me that I was like the anti-christ of parties, and I truly am against all forms of substance abuse...

Anyways, it's worth checking out I think.

Also, a second recommendation I watched earlier this year, and is one of my top 5 favourites (perhaps my most favourite besides Mushishi Zoku Shou 2nd Season) is Tatami Galaxy.

It blew my mind, I've never witnessed an anime that is so fluent and the story is so beautifully intertwined as each episode gives you a bigger perspective. And oh man... the maxims this show has to offer... absolutely phenomenal.

I plan on watching the Arise & Barakamon a bit before work tomorrow afternoon! I hope everything is going well with you!
It’s time to ditch the text file.
