I'm rather picky when it comes to anime, but I do appreciate the ones I like, and I'm open to making exceptions and changing my mind from time to time.
The ones on my lists are pretty much set in stone, though. The ones I completed I have enjoyed, and I'd like to see more of them. The ones I have dropped I haven't enjoyed, and likely won't ever go back to them.
Primarily, though, my enjoyment of anime seems to depend my preference of art styles and the quality of animation. On one end of the scale is Ghibli - the art style is very comfortable to look at, and, being a movie studio, the animation is superb. On the other end of the scale in terms of art style is Clannad (the art style of which threw me off so much I could not get past the first episode) and, in terms of animation, your typical shounen anime (sometimes they're barely above slideshow status).
And that appears to be the general rule behind whether I enjoy a certain show or not. More specific, genre-oriented preferences are as follows:
Types of Anime I Dislike:
Shounen
Harem
Mecha
Slice-of-Life
Action
Types of Anime I Like:
Anime with a comfortable art style
Anime with good quality animation (eg movies)
I'm open to making exceptions to the dislike list, and have in the past (e.g. FMA, Usagi Drop).
Also, The fact that I dislike a certain genre doesn't mean I necessarily dislike shows with that genre's elements in it.
I also like comedy.

I can be a bit nitpicky and judgy, but I'm always looking out for fun shows to watch :D

Recommendation Club Newsletter~Holiday Edition
As we enter into one of the busiest times of the year, we here at the Recommendation Club would like to extend our wishes for each and every one of you to have a wonderful holiday season!
Since the September newsletter, our club has gained many new members, and seen the return of old ones. We would like to keep the momentum going, and with our member list now at 3,111, that should be no problem at all! ^_^.
We would like all of our members, old and new, to help keep this an active, and fun club, a place to Chat and to seek out recommendations in our General anime and General Manga thread as well as the specific anime genre threads, such as Drama and Romance and Sci-fi and many others as well.
It’s a great place to make new friends, or renew past friendships, and we urge all of our members to drop by, and post in the various threads and comment section, as well as share you expertise with other members.
