Yes miss, that is Yuna and it's been a while since I last played that game. It may be linear, but it still beats modern AAA games.

I would love to delve into indie games potentially similar to Solty Rei, the most underrated cyberpunk anime ever. One that revolves around loss, hope and identity. Anime doesn't explore those themes anymore, sadly.

Space western is more of my favorite sci-fi genre, but I'll definitely check out Cyberpunk Edgerunners after several of my friends have. One of them being a 39 year-old supertomboy that also likes retro anime. She loves delving into dystopian stories too.

Nice, if you enjoy Ultimate Zero, check out past series. Actually the Ultimates themselves are basically retrains of aces from past MCs. You dont need to have seen the past shows cause Battle Spirits is standalone seasons, however it's worth sharing why their treatment are the way they are.

I would also like to present you this:

I was in high school when I watched re-runs of Evangelion. Used to watch it every Saturday night along with S-Cry-Ed and Ghost in the Shell (Stand Alone Complex).

Merry Christmas to you too and delving into classic stuff is great which I do all the time.

With that said, Merry Christmas!

I present you my charcoal drawing:

Yes, I love traditional art.

First off, I'm doing fine this year despite rigorous holiday preparations.

The 2020s is far from everyone's favorite decade so I probably understand how you feel. I just hope that it gets better as of Year of the Snake.

An Italian tomboy that I haven't seen in ages probably struggled with depression and I hope that you'll hang in there as Year of the Dragon comes to a close. I wish that there was more I could have done for her, but you know the future and it's complexities. Yes, welcome to the future and the real world. The real world with a touch of Darwinism and sometimes, there's nothing we can do but adapt.

Not a big fan of modern anime either. I also put a lot of things over currently trending anime which is a bunch of kids stuff compared to anime during my high school days. I'm way past puberty and the delving into goofy cartoon stuff. I love action comedy still, but I don't like it that goofy with same old, accepted anime tropes. I prefer Samurai Jack's way of mixing action and comedy TBQH.

I gotta say, the animation in the Innocence movie blew me away, especially the fighting choreography. It's no surprise that CGI is very fitting with Ghost in the Shell and the story was very nice too. Not recommended to people who haven't seen the 1995 movie or Stand Alone Complex though. Definitely more recommended to Ghost in the Shell manga readers or more experienced audiences overall.

I'm surprised that Innocence is direct to video in the west rather than broadcasted like said movie and the SAC adaptation which I watched every Saturday night on Adult Swim.

TBQH, the Ghost in the Shell on Playstation is what got me into the franchise. I used to get Batman Beyond vibes playing that game when I delved into crime fighting in a futuristic world.

As long as Ghost in the Shell is action, it will always sell.

So how are you doing this season?

I'm looking forward to watching Ghost in the Shell: Innocence soon. It's just that I've been busy with art and holidays preparations so far.

The only things Ghost in the Shell that I know so far are the movie, source material, Stand Alone Complex and that PS1 game adaptation.

May Atsuko Tanaka rest in peace and she's one of the things I love most about Valkyria Chronicles. She was very fitting for a general or captain type of character.

Yes, I loved Valkyria Chronicles so much that I decided to replay it with Japanese voices. My 40 year-old Canadian friend is a huge fan of Houko Kuwashima by the way. Yes, she has a very cute voice (I love Isara) and I'm glad that she got a new role in Gundam SEED Freedom as of late. She was one of the reasons why re-watched Madlax three years ago or during that somewhat awful Year of the Ox (basically the Dark Ages of entertainment). I re-watched Madlax after Gundam Wing back then and I may re-watch Martian Successor Nadesico some time, one of Houko-chan's first anime roles. Years before she got video game roles.

Speaking of Japanese, I loved Genki I so much that I decided to print all those necessary pages.

True, i guess people don't know how to emulate 80s (or even 70s?) styles. But tbh even back then it seemed like it was difficult, look at the Urusei Yatsura anime. Though actually, that might be the closest an anime has gotten to her style lol!
shockzz1234 Nov 6, 2024 10:00 AM
LOL, fair enough. I could never do that, like what if they're on the list....forever! Hmmm, maybe it's because it's so simple that it's hard to replicate? Or maybe they try to make her art more than simple when they adapt it, which leads to it looking off? I'm not sure.

My word, i see you have 129 on your currently watching list haha, there's no way you're watching all of those surely?! But yeah, that's fair, personally i like the colours as i said, but i can see why people might prefer the original - there's something about that 90s look huh? I do think too many anime these days are a bit too colourful. As for Rumiko's style, i think the Ranma remake and InuYasha do a decent job of adapting Rumiko's style, but you're right that there's not an anime out there that does it perfectly. Which is strange, as Rumiko's style isn't THAT complex lol.
shockzz1234 Nov 1, 2024 7:29 AM
Hahah, i'll take your word for it! =p On the remake - i think it's good tbh. I think, from what i can see, most people who watched the original quite like it. I like the colours too, i think they're vibrant. I'd recommend it tbh. But like you said, even if you don't like it, at least there's some new scenes you can watch for the first time in anime form.
shockzz1234 Oct 30, 2024 11:51 AM
Creamy Mami is a very...interesting name lol. But i'll check it out, and Rose of Versailles too (it's already on my plan to watch list). Ranma i've already read and watched...you watching the remake that's coming out right now?
shockzz1234 Oct 27, 2024 8:10 PM
Haha no problem! I have so many anime completed (help) that seeing a negative affinity was rare, so i was shook is all lol. You got any really good retro anime recommendations? I've been meaning to try more.
It’s time to ditch the text file.
