It's more than mere mecha and the show itself focuses more on themes of survival. I also watched it because the dub was spectacular and several of my favorite characters in both seasons died. But casualties are expected when living in world of chaos and death. After the world has gone the way of Falconia (FF6 continent) with towns that may not exist anymore.

I've been doing well, especially after having read Silent Möbius QD (had to learn Japanese arduously for this manga and because the prequel had an incomplete adaptation) and Gantz.
