Welcome one and all. First and foremost, this page is mainly for my own personal use: to keep track of what I've watched/read and to find new things to watch/read. But anyway, HI! How is everybody? I'm doing fantastic. Pretty much most of the time anyway.
But I'll admit it if you will, I'm an anime and manga fan. I have been, really, since before I knew what anime was! ;-p I started watching Sailor Moon when I was really young. Everyday, I would watch it before I went off to elementary school. To this day, I'm still quite partial to it, mainly the original run, not so much the latter ones, like Sailor Stars. I still remember that my favorite was Sailor Jupiter, cause she reminded me of myself. And honestly, she still does! I'm not the girly-est person alive by any stretch of the imagination. I don't paint my nails, I don't give a damn how styling my clothing is, and my make-up, if any, is very minimalistic. You'll typically find me in jeans, t-shirts and sneakers. I'm a huge tomboy at heart. I love sports and am currently devoting myself to snowboarding. But even though you may catch me throwing lit fireworks at the scantily clad girls walking around just to laugh at their reactions, I do have a softer side. I love cooking, and more specifically, baking, and love to sew my own clothes, but only get to around Halloween. I'm also a terrible, hopeless romantic at heart. ^_^
Anyway, I digress: I have recently become more comfortable with my love of anime and manga. Even though I had been watching it since I was little, as soon as High School came around, it became socially taboo to like anything animated unless it came from the Disney Studios. So I locked it away. No one knew that I'd stay up late at night just to watch reruns of InuYasha and Full Metal Alchemist on TV. Years later, I'm finally beginning to tell people, damn the consequences. If they don't like it, they can kiss my ass. I wish I had realized this in High School. But better late than never, eh? True, I have gotten some really strange looks and rude comments from close friends, but I have also discovered that some of the people around me, who I never thought would have understood, do, even to the extent that we now share suggestions and comments about the shows we love (though sometimes still in secret ;-)).
I'll try any show, really (save those with yaoi and yuri, sorry, just not my cup of tea), but am quite partial to shoujo/romance with strong female leads, showing that you don't necessarily need a guy to get along quite well in life, but would still like to find that person that you can be around with no barriers erected, and just be a girl. I also love psychological thrillers. So awesome! Alternate timeline stories are nifty too. And you can't forget the storylines that are actually true to real life (hence why Vitamin is my favorite manga read to date). And natural disasters are cool too.
And I'll let you in on a secret. Shhhh, don't tell anyone, but I have never cried for any live action movie that I have seen. None. Zero. Almost teared up once. Six years ago. But I was crying my eyes out like baby during the last two episodes of Tokyo Magnitude 8.0. I HIGHLY recommend this anime to ANYONE! It's a masterpiece. Beautifully done. The storyline is amazing, but the character development is the best I've ever come across. Bar. None.
Anywho, if ya wanna talk to me, cool. If not, cool. I'm sure either way, you and I will continue with our lives, down the same paths we were headed, and will turn out fine in the end.
