I've been into anime since 1997 and quickly transitioned from dubs to subs by 1999 and I've been watching my anime subbed ever since.
I have a serious love of seiyuu and will watch anything that certain seiyuu perform in. In fact, that's how I pick what to watch each season.
Anything with the following seiyuu will immediately catch my interest; Seki Tomokazu, Miki Shinichirou, Morikawa Toshiyuki, Junnichi Suwabe, Daisuke Ono, Kamiya Hiroshi, Fukuyama Jun, Mamoru Miyano, Ishida Akira, Koyasu Takehito, Seki Toshihiko, Kazuhiko Inoue, Show Hayami, Kennichi Suzumura, Sakurai Takahiro, Hoshi Souichirou, Hikaru Midorikawa, Katsuyuki Konishi, Maaya Sakamoto, Megumi Hayashibara, GACKT and the late great Keiji Fujiwara.
I also love singing songs from anime and 95% of my music collection is Japanese (mostly GACKT and MIYAVI).

I have mixed feelings with mecha too, but I remember Nadesico being the only mecha anime for me to lay back and relax to. My big Ontarian friend is a huge fan of Houko Kuwashima.
The Spanish dub of Nadesico was great too. :)
If I want mecha anime exploring complex themes like loss and hope, then I will watch Fafner. It would have been great if the sequel Exodus had gotten dubbed like season one, but at least the original audio has Emi Shinohara (may the lovely lady or Sailor Jupiter RIP along with Atsuko Tanaka Aka Major).
Again, not a huge fan, but I will say that 2001 Yoshikazu Yasuhiko manga is an improvement of that 1979 Gundam anime that started the franchise in art and narrative. I love the way that old geezer designs characters. As much as my semitomboyish friend from North Carolina that loves historical manga and speaks German.
With new Gundam content feeling downgraded, I decided to turn my attention towards future Macross movies that I heard about from Den of Geek and a possible Fafner season 3. Fafner without Lady Shinohara won't be the same though, but a new movie would be much appreciated too.
Yes milady, there are also other things that I look forward to in the future.
The anime industry has yet to show me and my friend Katherine, a Sailor Mars fangirl, a new Tsukihime adaptation. We are dying to see more exhibition.
Have you been studying Japanese too and what do you love most about Nadesico?
I'm currently watching Season Three of Sailor Moon Crystal and trying to finish up Fairy Tail. Mostly because I have been trying to finish up anime before starting a new series. Working full time this summer has really been eating into my anime watching. I also just got back from Denver Comic Con. :) Saw a lot of really cool famous people.
