I'd say it's at least worth a try. If you get around to volume 2, let me know how it is - I'm putting it off because of the other series I'm tending to at the moment.

Yeah, the library is convenient for manga, but some series I've had to buy just because they don't have it - and the ability to read manga like any other book (as opposed to reading online) is definitely a plus for me. Has Tokyopop translated all 23 volumes? If not, I'll probably not buy them. (Thanks for the heads up, at least, something to think about.) I do know that online, it's rather cheap; Volume 1 is relatively cheap, at least. I'll probably read the manga in some way; I loved the anime but didn't like the ending, it felt rushed. :(

Manga is something I've only started lately. I'm still trying to get around to anime, but I'm occasionally neglectful of it. Manga has it's pros and cons, if compared to anime; I like how it's much more... "personable" (?). You can take it anywhere, it's literally in your hands, etc... the fact that it's not animated and in black and white is something you get over pretty quick. The only con, really, is the lack of a soundtrack (obviously), and I'm a musical person, so I tend to enjoy the sound/music in anime. But that can also be made with ones' own imagination, I suppose. And with my approach (buying manga), it costs money, but that's a given. I like manga so far, though.

I'm also interested in light novels, though there aren't enough that are translated. Are there any light novels you've read?

Interestingly, reading itself is something I'm new to, so I guess manga just followed suit.

I should probably mention if I didn't in the thread that I've only read one volume of Bokura ga Ita and of Sand Chronicles, so I may not have had enough to make a good comparison with. But so far I found Sand Chronicles more tolerable, at least for me. There's still some romance in it, but it also has nice drama and comedic aspects to it. Sort of Fruits Basket-esque. I'd recommend at least trying it out (note that the chapters are pretty long; which is why there's only two in the first volume)

I've only read one volume of Fruits Basket at the moment, but I will continue it. It's a series I'm using library copies to read, and getting those aren't always easy! Maybe I'll just buy those instead.

I'll check out Karakuri Odette. So far these are the only three shoujo titles I've read/watched, so I should check out more.

To each his own bro... I've never liked her since I've heard her as Kuroko on To-aru, and it sounded a bit too old for her character's age.

Yeah, like - I love Kimi no Iru Machi for example - but I hate the individual girls in it. LOL
Yet Pastel is boring now but I love Yuu to bits.

I honestly don't know why Pastel is sitting on my favorites...
Perhaps its because I like the main heroine too much?

saying we have series in common is a little bit of an understatement no? Yes I've seen all that you mentioned. Simoun is probably my favorite of the ones you mentioned. I like Candy Boy enough that I bought the Max Factory figures and I finished Saki. I guess if you haven't see Aoi Hana or Sasameki Koto, I'd watch those and then maybe if your desperate Blue Drop(Not good). Kashimashi is one of my favorite in both Manga and Anime and they diverge in their story telling. That's it for now.
