About Me!

Hello all! I'm Approva. I've been watching anime for several years now. My first being Highschool of the Dead (if we exclude the Pokémon I watched as a kid), which one of my close friends recommended to me. I definitely do not recommend that as a first anime however, as that anime could easily give someone the wrong impression about the medium! Despite that, I continued to watch more and more, discovering my love for slice of life/drama/romance shows (which dominate my favorites presently) shortly thereafter.

I used to be a member of the no-drop master race, but realized that I did not have enough time in my limited lifespan to do all of the things I wanted to do, so I started dropping anime in Feb 2018. I also used to watch every anime that came out each season, which I stopped doing during the Winter 2018 season (because I dropped a number of those shows). Due to this, I have seen every anime released from Summer 2014 to Fall 2017 to completion. I will continue to watch a good chunk of each new season's anime, but will drop those I do not like it.

Outside of anime, I enjoy video games, reading (mostly manga and light novels), music, Asian dramas, and film. I’ve included some of my favorites below!

The 10 Anime Commandments

Some guidelines that I follow.

I. One must never disregard an anime based solely on its visual appearance. This leads to many viewers missing out on a show he/she might enjoy. If one is unable to look past a different art/animation style in a show, then that is a flaw in their character.
II. One must never judge an anime based on how old the anime is. This ties in with the previous commandment, as many viewers will pass over an old anime based solely on its visual appearance.
III. One must always remain open to try new genres of anime. If one never tries a few shows from a certain genre, how will he/she know that they like/dislike said genre?
IV. One must not greatly alter their review scores as time passes. Think back to when you first finished a certain series. The score given then should remain. Rewatching a show is the only justification for changing its score completely.
V. One must not let another's opinion influence the final score given to an anime, especially if said score is subjective. This goes hand in hand with the previous commandment. Letting a review/comment/whatever change your opinion on something you used to enjoy is just wrong. On the other hand, enjoying something you used to despise is acceptable, as it broadens your scope of enjoyment.
VI. If one rates "objectively", one must not berate those that rate subjectively. Rating an anime "objectively" is fine, but when said individual starts calling another anime viewer a casual or saying such things like "you have bad taste", then it is wrong. Most anime viewers watch anime to enjoy it, to be entertained, and as such, rate subjectively, which is perfectly fine. This holds especially true for shows such as SAO and Elfen Lied.
VII. One must never take a side in the sub/dub argument. No, not all dubs are bad. And no, not all subs are ching-chang-chong. Most of those that say "all dubs are bad" don't even speak Japanese and, as such, cannot give an accurate assessment of the voice acting in any given series. Doing so is simply being ignorant. When one watches a series they have already seen in another format (from sub to dub and vice-versa), he/she should take into account that they are most likely going to be biased when they say the latter version is inferior. Going into it with an open mind is the best option, as to avoid a tainted opinion. Those that watch a mixture of the two formats and do not claim superiority on either side have my respect.
VIII. One must not skip episodes in any given anime. Fillers and recaps must be watched and one's list is incorrect if these are skipped, yet marked as completed. Skipping openings and endings is fine, however.
IX. One must never judge an anime based on how accurate it is as an adaptation of its source material. An anime should stand to serve on its own and should not be rated based on how it adapts the source material.
X. One must watch all corresponding prequels before moving onto a sequel. Watching based on chronological release is also fine, but skipping the first season to watch the second is wrong.

Anyone can watch but keeping track of every single anime? It's not the same type of enjoyment.
I enjoy an anime much more if I only watch 2-3 animes. You forget the small details that matter :)

Chi No Wadachi Is really good!

Aloha, my name is random person in the internet. (Pretty cool huh). I have noticed that you are in the reading Chi no Wadachi. I like this manga and wants to talk to peoole about it. I like the way the author make a scene have more meening that it supposed to be. Like from far away, you would thing this manga has little substance or something, but man it is filled with many stuff. I really likethe slow pace as well. It is unique. As well the artstyle from Oshimi's other works. I was wondering if u are interested in joining a discord server deticated for Chi no wadachi, and as well Oshimi Shuzo's other manga, like happiness or aku no hana. Hopefully there is gonna be a good community for it. If you dont like to join the server you can check the Oshimi Shuzo in MAL. See ya later :)

Ghost Hunt's stories are of uneven quality. Most of characters are simply useless. And the rhythm is too slow.

I actually haven't seen the live Death Note adaptation :o ill have to add that to my plan to watch series.
My favorite live adaptation is the Itazura na kiss! :P
Clannads a really good anime despite its mixed reviews :3
