Hello World! Well, it seems like you've reached my profile. Enjoy your stay and read as much as you desire. Maybe you'll discover something interesting, or rather someone interesting. Feel free to comment or send a message if you want to talk. About me: I'm 20 years old. I like different types of Japanese media - Anime, Manga, Visual Novels, Light Novels and Video Games. I usually end up getting obsessed over a certain franchise for a while until something else will win me over. My favorite genres are Action, Drama, Thriller and Psychological. Although I mostly enjoy things that make me think or be on the edge of the seat, I will get disappointed if a show that has a great character-driven concept will lack romance. Ocassionally I also watch moe slice-of-life anime that make me relax. I believe every genre is special, and hence I won't refrain from trying things I'm not familiar with. Even though I can define my taste by specific genres I'm open to new experiences. Two more things I'm an avid fan of are Seinen Mahou Shoujo and Mecha Musume type of anime. My favourite studio is Key - both as a studio and their staff. I simply love the emotional impacts and character development in their writing. More text: Female characters > Male characters As you could've already noticed, or will notice after checking my extended favorites list - most of my favorite characters are girls. It isn't about watching anime solely for the female characters, but rather I usually find male characters way too bland and generic - especially in things released in the recent years. I'm not against liking male characters - in fact I do have some male favorites. It's just pretty difficult to find ones I can relate to. The ones I'd consider relatable enough and whom I can appreciate are Katsuragi Keima and Tennouji Kotarou. For organization purposes I didn't put them in the extended list but they definitely deserve the mention. Physical volumes > Digital volumes I prefer physical copies of manga and LNs, and this is the exact reason why I barely ever read - most of my favorite things weren't licensed and weren't officially translated, or maybe not translated at all. Another reason is that I don't see a point in reading one translated volume and never being able to continue it since the official translation has either stopped or releases one volume per year - and that's at best case as well, since some just decide to stop licensing at a certain point. Yes, I have the option to read online, but my desire of supporting the writers and creators is higher than to read it at all. Plus it's a completely different experience to read it online versus actually holding the volume. And don't forget about being able to enjoy the beautiful covers. Seinen > Shounen I prefer seinen over shounen in any type of Japanese media. You probably won't find many shounen works in my lists - it just doesn't attract me enough to keep watching or reading it after a while since most of it gets repetitive and generic. There are exceptions and I can enjoy it occasionally but it isn't the option I'd choose if I have to decide between the two. Scores aren't important I usually don't use the full scale of rating and hence the number 8-9 appears quite a lot in my list. I find most shows enjoyable and not that bad as most people criticize them. I'm not saying that I like bad things but rather I'm trying to find something enjoyable even in the less good things. I'll avoid watching something that I feel it won't score too high though - that's why I rated nothing below 5 so far. Completionism is a way of life I'm a completionist when it comes to watching anything. If I liked a certain show most likely I'll watch every OVA, movie or special related to it, whether it's a sequel or pure fanservice. Also I avoid dropping things unless it's intorerable kind of bad and I feel it's a serious waste of time (or unless I don't feel like watching it at the moment). Most likely I'll pick it up at a later time, be it months or years after I dropped it or put it on hold. Someday I'll finish it. I hope. Transformations are the best I like anime with transformations of characters. Be it magical girls, mecha girls, ship girls, bear girls, even boys into... magical mecha girls (Twintails, anyone?), anything goes. I believe in Toaster-chan I'm an avid fan of Moe anthropomorphism ,which my way of life. Transformations which are mentioned above are also part of this. Can you imagine there are washing machine girls out in this world? What about... Toaster-chan? Refrigerator-san? Okay, okay, I think I'll stop here before it gets out of control... Controller-board-chan? Oh, it's too late to stop. Source =/= Adaptation I usually refrain from comparing source material to adaptation. There are exceptions, obviously. Some adaptations are meant only for people who experienced the source material; but others are meant to introduce new fans to a certain franchise (I'm looking at you, 95% of all LN adaptations ever, that are secretly ads). I'll try to avoid basing my rating on how good source-to-motion it is, unless it's critical and the adaptation tried to be very close to the source. Sometimes I'll prefer to treat the adaptation as an alternate dimension in case it goes beyond my expectations; not positively. I'd prefer if VN adaptations would take a different direction than the original to avoid ruining it. It'd be more enjoyable to people who already experienced the original and people who are planning to read the original at some point. I also love original anime that aren't based on anything - in fact that's what I'd prefer to watch instead of adaptations. Links are power I added links to every anime name, character or studio mentioned in this "About me" description. But I-it's not like I did it for you or a-anything. Baka! (Yes, I just linked you to a Wikipedia article about the word "baka". Deal with it.) Waifus are fate Having one waifu is always the best. Two is somewhat alright. Three is on the edge of "OK" and "STOP". But beyond this amount... don't. Seriously, don't. There should be a fine edge between waifus and favorites at this point. Fate is a waifu level girl. Moe is art I love moe. I love cute things. I love things that make me feel "moe". Therefore, although my taste of genres is mainly mature and serious, I'll always keep watching and reading moe content. Especially enjoying moe art and denpa music. It's like my life energy force. The moer the better. Art I'd say I'm an artistic person. I tried many creative things in my life. Drawing, producing music, writing, photography, videography, translation, and so on. I enjoy doing artistic things and creating stuff. "What's art" you ask? Naming this section simply "Art" without giving it an actually creative title. Laziness is a virtue I have no idea how I had the motivation to write this "About me" section of the profile. Especially adding all the links. ...plus making sure they actually work. And writing the HTML of it all. ...plus making sure it actually looks like it should. And uploading all the pictures used here to the cloud. ...plus finding and saving them prior to that. And actually thinking about what to write. Anzu Futaba is my spirit animal. I'm amazing for doing all that and you're amazing for reading it so far. At least I hope someone IS reading this. If you did survive so far though - congratulations. 1st anime finished: Black Rock Shooter 100th anime finished: Kamisama no Inai Nichiyoubi Special * Calling BRS a first, considering the period of time that I tried watching anime of my own accord, acknowleding it's anime. My waifus are Kudryavka Noumi from Little Busters, Kuroki Rei from Vividred Operation, and Isla from Plastic Memories My favorite vocaloid is Yuzuki Yukari and favorite shipgirl is Murakumo. Although it's near impossible to choose a favorite shipgirl since most of them are so perfect so I'll need to make a whole section for them in this profile someday. I hope you enjoyed reading the scroll above. Whether you were bored or actually curious, feel free to add me and send me a message if you desire. If you were simply bored then I'm glad I managed to pass your time. Extended favorite characters list: Not by order. Rating scale: I usually combine both subjective and objective views into my score. The things I pay most attention to are storyline, character development & design, soundtrack and overall enjoyment. Subjectively I take into account emotional attachment to the characters and world atmosphere development. 10 Perfect or nearly perfect. I enjoyed every episode and couldn't stop watching the series. I will definitely recommend it to other people in the future. It attached me emotionally to the characters and I could feel the atmosphere of the world the author has built. The works rated as such, gave me either a new point of view or made me think about and/or reconsider my personal views. Notable examples: Clannad ~After Story~, Angel Beats 9 Amazing. I enjoyed watching it a lot, but there was something that made me lower the score. Things like extremely open ends without a sequel, an annoying character in the cast, or many unexplained plotholes - are just few of the factors. Mostly works falling into this category are LN adaptions that I immensely enjoyed yet they ended too sharp and never continued. Notable examples: Noucome, Mondaiji 8 Enjoyable. It was definitely an enjoyable ride, but not something amazing. Maybe the drama felt a bit forced or the fanservice was too heavy for such a concept, or I just didn't take the whole thing too seriously. Mostly moe and relaxing anime will fall into this category - that is, if they did manage to make me feel relaxed and somewhat connect to them. Notable examples: D-Frag, Nyaruko 7 Good. It had some remarkable moments, and maybe also an interesting concept. But the execution wasn't too great, or I expected more from it. Nevertheless it still was quite enjoyable and passed the time. Most likely the drama was forced or it was a battle-royale with characters I couldn't connect to. Notable examples: Fate/Stay Night, Akame ga Kill 6 Alright. Nothing too amazing or great, but it passed the time. The drama was either really forced and I couldn't connect to the characters at all, or both the execution and concept failed to amuse me. I might rewatch these in the future and maybe I'll change my opinion about them. Notable examples: Guilty Crown, Mahou Sensou 5 and below Bad. I'm probably not even going to watch these which I feel that deserve 5 or less. So far I have nothing that scored so low. * I'm not rating anime which I haven't finished at least 40% of their total episode count. * I don't believe in genre-specific rating. In my list, both a slice-of-life deep drama and a bizzare ecchi parody might get the same score. My cards: |
