For Monster, the show was getting repetitive and I felt that the plot was moving at a snail's pace. The enjoyment that I felt at around ep 20 was nonexistent by ep 40 and I just dropped it so I wouldn't have to suffer anymore.
I think the original's storyline required a more mature audience to understand what was going on and enjoy that. When I think of the changes that were made between the different adaptations, I like to compare it to Charles Dickens' Great Expectations original publication vs the revised version. Not sure if you've ever read it in your junior year of highschool but Dickens was persuaded by an acquaintance to make the ending less sad and have the MC end up with the girl he liked. This didn't sit well with some people who felt that all the character growth and struggles the MC faced were being thrown down the drain for more popularity. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Great_Expectations#Revised_ending
I think that Bones very much did the same thing as Dickens did and it is also the reason why the majority of anime seasonals don't seem unique.
Hey there, saw your recent review on FMA:B. Of the many themes that you referenced, I feel that the 2003 adaptation portrays them better in a much more deep setting. Brotherhood only shallowly explored the guilt of Edward and Alphonse while sacrificing it to appeal to the audience more. The ending of the 2003 version wasn't as nice due to it being revised to suit a more modern audience. I don't want to give out any spoilers (msg me if you want to know more though) but I see that you are an avid fan of FMA and I highly recommend you to watch the first adaptation. Obviously, the art won't be as nice but if you're there for the story and the deep messages the story has, the 2003 version by far beats Brotherhood.
its actually not that lewd, i think that hype came from the show itself looking very promising when it started airing AND being made partially by studio Trigger which also made great series like Kill la Kill or Little Witch Academia. Although it have some strange mechanics like piloting franxx (mech) in lewd position but think its so popular because how controversial it is, some people just don't like how the show turned on later episodes (including me). there are countless youtube videos analising franxx plot and overall problems. if you go to the review section of franxx you will see a lot of 1 and 2 scores, but it certainly do not deserve such low score, it also do not deserve 10 nor 9. Oh and people don't like how franxx was imiting other shows like Tengen Toppa Gurren Laggan, Diebuster, or the classic i haven't fucking seen yet (lmao) Neon Genesis Evangelion.
for me, franxx was just ok. I certainly would not recommend it as a high priority watch, but if you have spare time and you don't know what to watch, you can try it yourself, maybe you will love it, or maybe you will not like it at all.
Also, it got way more popular because of pink long-haired girl - Zero Two "the ultimate waifu" (not really) and death threats pointed to one of the voice actor of girl character that did questionable things in like episode 13-14, don't remember that well
it definitely picks up, season 2 is very very good after all for me, but it still lacks something, i feel like the fights are dull/shallow later on despite that a whole lot of people loves this series and they are syaing that fights are incredible and emotional, but i wouldn't say that, also i think that supporting cast is a bit shallow later on too. BUT it is worth watching after all, its just very enjoyable (not for everyone tho)
first season was most boring, s2 was way better, and im in middle of s3 because it is airing right now so i won't tell to much
I HIGHLY recommend you Hunter x Hunter 2011 if you loved FMA:B ! Hunter is my favourite anime of all time and i don't feel like it will ever change, for me its the best shounen, best fight scenes that are beyond epic, outstanding ost, fantastic art, godly-written characters and a lot more ! Its my 11/10
Also, Yuu Yuu Hakusho is by the same author and is very similar to HxH, its one of my favourites too and has the best tournament arc that anime community have ever seen.
Both of these shows are over 100 eps, hunter is nearly 150, but don't be discouraged by this amount of episodes, in that case, for these shows the more the better !
PS: Nice madoka review ! Just finished the series, gave it 10/10 it was incredible !
Sorry if I already did messaged you one time already.
Sometimes it can happen that I mkae a comment on someones profile even after making a Message already.
Yeah, sorry if it is like that xD
So you're watching Gintama that's great.
Well let me give you an advice.
Just for the information.
The first Episodes and the following first Episodes can be quite average.
I know that it can be for many people. So maybe for you as well.
But it will improve a lot afterwards.
So I hope you will keep on watching Gintama.
Yeah, it's a pity, because this series has much more potential. You can also watch the movie, but don't expect it to be similar to anime series, it's just a blockbuster, reminded me 80-90-s action movies. Still worth watching though, has some moments) And get ready for epic engrish.
