A simple anime fan since 2015 who thinks too hard about what to rank shows. On hold list used for anything I plan to watch sooner rather than later.
Feel free to browse and judge my taste in anime/manga at your leisure :))
1st anime: Fairy tail 300th anime: Jujutsu Kaisen Season 2
1st manga: Yu-gi-oh! 50th manga: pending...l
10 = Art. A masterpiece in every sense of the word. Any flaws are insignificant in wake of how incredible this is. It deserves full praise, and is a personal favourite (or if not, it's something just feels wrong not giving a 10). Eg. Violet Evergarden.
9 = The same as 8, but with a little something special that made me bump it up. Like the humor being extra funny, or the art style being really captivating. The main difference between this and a 10 is how much it's affected me in general, how impactful I think it was, and if it's flaws are enough to keep it from a 10. Eg. Bocchi the Rock.
8 = Given to shows that left me thinking long after I've finished watching. Things with a message that resonated with me, or feels that stuck with me, or even plots that kept me so invested I couldn't stop watching. That kind of thing. Eg. Noragami.
7 = I would recommend this to someone. Given to a lot of shows that didn't quite reach an 8, but I still really enjoyed. Eg. Barakamon
6 = I liked it if I gave it this. Mostly given to shows that got a bit boring. In terms of comedies, I usually give it this if I thought it was executed well but just didn't find it funny personally. Eg. Owari no Seraph.
5 = The mediocre. The "well it's not that bad I guess." Funnily enough, there's a lot of guilty pleasure shows ranked here. Eg. Anima Yell!
4 = I give this mostly to shows I really wanted to like, but couldn't. Or perhaps ironically enjoyable shows. Also to shows that had redeemed themselves in some way after disappointing me. Eg. Sword art online.
3 = it doesn't physically hurts to watch, but it's still awful. Just disappointing really. Eg. Trinity Seven.
2 = Had at least one redeeming quality. The art may be charming or the voice acting may be really good, but otherwise it was a wreck. Eg. How to Keep a Mummy.
1 = Absolutely appalling, with not one redeeming quality. Mostly given to shows that physically hurt me to watch and I had to stop. You can argue it gets better if I kept watching, but quite frankly I could do better things with my time. Eg. The Asterisk War.
Note that these are guidelines more than concrete rules.
