I believe every story serves a purpose. So, I don't particularly like scoring things. But on MAL, I score anime/manga using the following criteria:
10: Impactful story(Has philosophical or metaphorical depth), befitting animation/art
09: Decent story, would like to finish in one go
08: Lacks enough impact, may have some issues
07: Didn't meet expectations, but has some positive points
06: Probably had nothing better to do
05 or less: ??(I research enough to avoid something I probably won't like)
