Yeah, the movie was certainly unique and a memorable experience. In particular, I found that one dream sequence quite haunting and impactful. It's probably my favorite scene in the movie.
Thanks for recommending Jin-Roh to me for MAL Secret Santa! I liked how atmospheric the film was, and the music/sound design was great too. I felt like the characters were somewhat emotionally distant, which made it difficult to really get into the film, but I still appreciated watching it. I hope you have a great rest of 2018! :)
Who knows! I don't think we really need to understand correctly or fully but it's fun to think about it and you can take stuff away from trying to understand him, his sister, and Tenma. I mean even that investigator dude is interesting. Man i want to rewatch so bad but no time...all the tears haha
Haha isn't it crazy! Especially that twist towards the end, I didn't see it coming. Honestly I'd need to watch it again to make any sense of it. It's been a while since I've seen it. I think he's quite frankly a psychopath, his motive seems to be all for his sister but like...idk? Definitely calls for a rewatch!
SORRY THIS IS SUPER LATE. that too! they purposefully put us in tenma's shoes (we only know as much as tenma about johan) so johan is as scary to us as he is to tenma which i like a lot. he really is an ominous enigma but maybe at this point you might even be finished with it haha
yeah! i mean at least we have one really good piece of media but it would be cool to see it if it was in real life. in fact i'd imagine it would be scarier
In time you will be freaking out hahaha. Yeah it seems to kinda drift away from the point but the writers put everything in there for a reason. Johan is definitely super creepy, mostly because he's written well enough to be real. I mean it's extremely intriguing precisely because it could certainly happen in real life, and choosing anime as a medium to tell the story was an interesting choice.
Yes! On my computer i have over 500 bookmarked animes that ive seen i just havent had time to put them all on mal yet. Hopefully within the week i will be able to put them all on here :)
YAY! I'm so glad you like it! Feel free to let me know your thoughts at any point or once you've finished! Not too many people have seen it all as you've said, so I don't get to talk about it really. Actually planning on rewatching it at some point. Man just wait til you're around 3/4 in and shit hits the fan haha
You're welcome! I'm glad to hear you liked it, especially as it holds a special place in my heart. xD
And that's fair haha, definitely don't want to see it too early on. I think I might've mentioned somewhere in the rec that Shinsekai Yori was the second anime I ever watched, right after Suisei no Gargantia... and boy did it set the bar high.
Hey just wanted to say thanks for the secret santa rec!
I haven't been reading manga for a bit but I promise I'll try to read it whenever I reinstall mangarock :D
Oh and Happy New Year!
