It's fine. I'm glad we understand each other. I expected people initially will take me for a troll. Also, I don't hate or dislike Berserk. I just don't like it with the same intensity others do which sometimes makes me think I'm missing out. But then I've given it two frank tries.

If you got something out of it, I'm glad you did. I truly I am. But I wrote what I felt were problematic elements. Coming to Gantz, I doubt anyone considers it high art. It's dumb and everyone knows it.

Dude! Let's say the article is false as neither you nor I possess any authority regarding the matter. Still, people back then were aware of rape culture and had legal systems against them, whether they worked or not. Secondly, Berserk is a fantasy. It's a story. I don't see it putting rape in any other meaningful context than just for the sake of being edgy. And Casca's character is *ignored* for large parts of it.

If you'd see my rating, beyond the "mix feeling" tag which I should change to "not recommended" tag, you'd see I've rated it far less than Berserk. It's trash but it isn't pretending to be otherwise.

Berserk is not an accurate account of Mediaeval Ages and it has never tried to be. It is a fantasy with a similar backdrop. In other words, merely a setting. Also, the same argument is to be applied for Game of Thrones. There is little-to-no evidence that rape was severely common in that era.

I just thought Wicked City was more mature. It's something obviously for adults but Gunnm felt a lot more kiddy overall so it was hard to appreciate the X rated parts as much in it.

I've got a lot of problems with Shinji too but not the same ones for why I don't like Alita. I thought Alita was too aggressive but it's the opposite for Shinji. I got really mad he wouldn't fight to disable his friend's out of control Eva and couldn't distinguish the object from the person.

The original NGE anime also felt a lot more mature to me than Gunnm. To Gunnm's credit though one of the most disturbing scenes ever in an anime for me was seeing what happened to the woman at the end. It wasn't bad, just not for me, or I would've picked up the manga.

I sometimes find Kurumi Tokisaki fans hypocritical. Like they'll complain about male characters like Issei Hyodo and Tomoki Sakurai being perverts yet Kurumi tries to seduce and rape Shido which in fact she's a lot more perverted than most perverted male protagonist in anime
