Took a break from MAL so I'm replying late. Guess you travel a lot that way right? Or is this your first time?
Yeah I think he was, just checked and the wiki seems to confirm it (unless someone is lying there). I think its clearly revenge against Jahad and the other 10 family leaders for what happened to his sister/relative. I'm very interested to learn more about FUG, always seemed like the most interesting organization in ToG
What do you mean with three stories? Are there spin offs?
Btw just caught up on the past few chapters. Baam vs Jahad is really intense so far. I really like Baam's new fighting style.
I think a timeskip is likely, that way the characters get stronger + the next part is more mysterious at first.
Do you read other webtoons? Are there any other great one's?
Yeah studying medicine and I had to do an oral exam.
Good points, guess it can go either way. But there just seems to be so much that needs to be resolved with the different factions (12 families + Jahad, Wolhaiksong, FUG) and the individual character arcs that I think it will keep going for a long time. Whats your prediction, how many years do you think ToG will go on for?
I haven't read the latest chapter yet, I took a break after the training part began but that does sound surprising. Still this Jahad is much weaker than the real version.
Definitely and I think the Workshop battle had the worst pacing easily
The thing is TG is more like OP and build to last really long with the huge world it has (so many floors all having their own thing going on). And considering how Baam still isn't even close to be on the level of the really powerful people, I think it will take a while. We will see though.
Yeah sadly, just hope this version of Jahad is handled better than Hoaqin was.
Seems like it, hope he looks more badass in his final "version" though.
True but I think my favourite would be the the Floor of death one. Hell Joe was a solid villian and I liked how this arc focused more on Urek and made him more human. We also got some great revelations about Baam as a character (his mother, Enryu etc.) and it felt well paced, never dragged on (like for an example the workshop battle).
Likely way more, the pacing is pretty slow and like you said Part 2 is much longer already. I think ToG will easily go on for at least 6 more years, if not more. There are too many things that need to be resolved.
Lol, true. Shame because Hoaqin seemed menacing at first
Yeah there aren't any real defined rules. But from Jahad I just expected more after all the build up. He should look at least Urek level of mature. Currently he looks like some brat. Maybe its done so when we see the real Jahad there is more of an impact (since he will be older and more badass?).
Agreed, I prefer Part 2 actually since the story gets way more interesting here. Part 1 was more mysterious and focused on the tests, not that much about the overarching story
I read once that there are four parts planned. I dont think Baam has that in him to kill Rachel like that.
Androssi is great, my favourite too and I ship her with Baam.
Yeah that seems likely, I hope their relationship develops further. I dont get why they are so weak either, especially Karaka's performance was rather weak. Dude was destroyed easily.
I agree, overall Karaka is more interesting than Hoaqin who really has no purpose anymore.
I was kind of disappointed with Jahad's look, he looks too young and lame in the current arc, I hope the real one has a more badass look
I often hear that ToG went downhill after Part 1, what do you think about that?
True thats a big problem. She should have been portrayed as a strong character from the beginning. Now because she is so weak, the writer is forcing her to be in the story (like in the latest arc). I really hope that her story will be resolved in Part 2 (apparently there will be more parts).
Who do like the most from the female characters?
Just felt like it came out of nowhere and tbhb I think Hoaquin was kind of wasted overall. True, with the thorn pieces build up those power ups wont be forced. Definitely nothing is as bs as DBS power ups lol.
Heard about that one, new manga right? And its getting an anime soon as well
Vinland Saga is about Vikings and is very grounded. Would recommend it
Well she does really suck, I dont like how the writer keeps forcing her to be relevant just because of her relation with Baam.
Urek is a badass, really enjoyed his role in the floor of death arc with Hell joe.
Yeah it took quite a while, hopefully he improves as a character and takes control.
Not that bad but it gets pretty silly with how many power ups he already has and the story is nowhere near finished so they will only increase. Also the power up he got against Hoaquin was kind of "one shotting" the enemy type considering how he beat him. Thats probably the worst one, the rest are fine
Reading some of those as well, my favourites would be OP, AoT, OPM and Vinland Saga.
Don't usually read webtoons but Tower of god is pretty good. Love the worldbuilding but I do feel that Baam is a bit bland and directionless and the power ups are getting out of hand if this keeps going as it has. Liking the current arc with Jahad's data. Koon is my favourite character and I hate Rachel, you?
Good question..I guess Oda wanted some variety. Not everyone was going to be a badass, it was kind of explained with his backstory with Kaido. Still just kind of an unnecesary arc really, the best moment was at the end with Zoro and Kuma.
The world reaction chapters are always some of the best imho.
Hyped for the next arc, although I think I might take a break so there are more chapters again.
I'm usually not either but I think the OP reddit community is great.
Enel was definitely more threatening, Moira was a big joke lol. Nightmare Luffy was fun, I would add Brooke's backstory though. Very sad and well done.
True, Oda didnt want to make Luffy too OP already but the chapters where he is running away from Doffy were still kind of annoying.
Yeah MAL is more for anime discussion in general and the most popular seasonal anime, series like OP dont get much discussion. I would recommend visiting the One Piece subreddit (https://www.reddit.com/r/OnePiece/) , very active, lots of great discussion and overall a fun place
lol not a big fan either of that arc but its still better than Thriller Bark
Yeah it definitely makes sense since he was already weakened but I was just caught off guard how Luffy overpowered him. Oda basically had to make up that rule of him not being able to do it for long so we have some tension.
Thats a verdict I can agree with! Both really had different roles in their arcs and did them well, even if other parts could be flawed.
Yeah I used to read manga there, they got rid of the forums right?
That makes sense, some older OP arcs like Skypiea for an example got plenty of criticism as well but I wasn't really part of the fandom back then (and it wasn't this big anyway).
Gladius ability was certainly interesting but he was just forgettable (I dont even remember him anymore..). I agree Doflamingo was more complex than the villians I mentioned and you explained his character well, definitely a high point of Dressrosa, although I didnt like how he got the Blueno treatment when Luffy went Gear 4..
True but thats what makes Katakuri refreshing, he is very unique in terms of major enemies that Luffy has fought. Still overall both are great characters.
I do because I caught up on the manga back then (kind of forgot OP for a few years since Fishman Island was lacking). People were sick of Dressrosa during its second half and there were lots of complaints here and on the One Piece subreddit (dont visit other OP forums).
You forgot to mention a few like Gladius, Lao G, Jolla etc. but they sucked too. Felt like fodder. I think Pica was boring and the fight with him was way too dragged out and provided zero challenge. Diamante however was pretty solid
Doflamingo was definitely interesting but I think he is a bit typical. OP villians are usually really bad people and crazy as hell, like Crocodile, Arlong, Rob Lucci and this was more of the same (but well done). What I liked about Katakuri is how he is different and more human, he isn't even a real bad guy tbh and I really liked that he loved his family. Just felt refreshing imho.
I really wish that Zoro and Robin shined in Dressrosa like Sanji and Nami did, they were wasted hard for the grand fleet guys who apart from Bart and Cavendish I didnt care about.
Yeah it was a bit dragged out towards the end but overall I think it had much better pacing than Dressrosa. You wouldn't believe how much people bashed that arc's pacing & how it was dragged out..

True. Good question, he was one of those who were with Jahad like Baam's mother, maybe he is Arlen's brother.
Depends on how the Baam vs Jahad fight is handled. I think this Jahad is way weaker though and he might be defeated at the end.
Lets hope not, I think the writer has learned from WSB's slow pacing and medicore reception.
Which arc do you think we will see after the current one?
