These are the anime characters I would want to have my back if I was ever transported to a Fantasy world!
First up, Yuno! She's the Wildcard of the group. She can be sweet and get along with everyone, but she's also got that super dark side! Role: Assassin/Support
Second, Shinobu! What's a group without a super powerful Loli? She'd be great at keeping everyone in the group in line (since we have a few crazies) and is really strong and fast since she's a vampire! Role: Frontlines/Assassin
Third up, Narberal Gamma! That Tsundereness XD! She's very protective of her companions and uses very-high level magic! Role: Mage/Frontlines
Fourth, Shiroe! He's a great strategist and has a lot of awesome support spells. Not to mention, that glasses move should scare off most enemies! Role: Strategist/Support
Fifth, Ban! Bans got some crazy useful skills! He can regenerate, has amazing offensive power, and he's got a great personality to boot! Role: Frontlines/Tank
And the last and final member is.... me! I would want the same powers and abilities as Ainz from Overlord. He is super OP and a great leader. With his abilities, you wouldn't have to worry about being overpowered by anyone and would have the ability to keep infighting to a minimum! Role: Leader/Mage
Most of that goes right back to things we already discussed. Our values. You don't care about an image, that's fine, it's just a gif, they're just a bunch of pixels but I do care. Call it selfish, childish, self centered, whatever you want, I don't particularly care but it's not nice seeing people doing things you're not allowed to for things you like. I'm not trying to play mod (if that's how you see it) nor do I care about recognition, all I expect others follow the same set of rules.
As for why I don't bother to 'defend' my views, assuming you mean about me not liking the rules. I'm not gonna bother to start a battle that's already been lost several times over and as I already said before, the current conditions are not impossible to deal with.
I don't see it as a bad comparison at all. There's a sense of morality even in simple things like following forum rules to shoplifting.
If we had a some way of changing the rules, then I'd side with those to change it, but me alone isn't enough and as I've already menetioned, there have already been several denied suggestions to change it and it's not like the current rules are impossible to deal with. The standards right now aren't at their worst, it's plenty doable but it could be better but until the higher ups are willing to change that, I will comply with the current conditions.
I go to a store and see stuff I want. I follow the rules and I pay for it. If I don't have the money, I don't buy. What's another option? Go against the law/rules and steal it, which I won't do.
I comply with the rules in front of me and I at least try to spread awareness to others to those clueless to them because we all know no one reads guidelines when they join the site.
I actually have never reported anyone because their sigs. Others do it, because I'm not the only person who uses gifs in their signature and I'm sure they'd have a understanding of not being allowed to use larger file sized and better quality gifs while random users just go using gifs several times larger than the rules.
Which goes back to what I previously said and your analogy about the grass. Rather than being the one telling people to get off, I just stick a sign in and move on.
Are you familiar with making/editing gifs? In addition to MAL's awful 300kb rule, there's a lot of frame cutting/removing and quality modifications. As someone whose been making them for a while, it becomes a faster process as I know what to get rid of and edit out to make it fit the restrictions.
And despite having the message under my sig to report users not following the gif rules, it doesn't mean I agree with it. In this day in age, a 300kb gif isn't something people should have problems loading, but I've seen enough requests to change the rule denied that I don't really have any choice but to follow.
Which is why your standards and mines don't align, since you can't see the difference in our values. I'm sure the gifs and images to you are just something you googled or found off some other site and that's perfectly fine.
