I would like to coin SPDST (Stupid People Doing Stupid Things) as a genre name. If CGDCT can have it, why can't dumbfuck humour?
Also, I'm slowly completing every food related anime except for Shokugeki no Souma.
Here's my Top 10 OPs and EDs (from a purely compositional viewpoint, of course):
- These need an update, but I'm too lazy to get to that right now. They'll be updated eventually.
When rating an anime, my ratings are obviously very subjective. However, I like to use somewhat objective merits as my justifications, and as such I try to strike a balance.
10: A 10 is not something flawless. Hell, it probably isn't even one of the best works of all time, because let's face it, anime writing is often outclassed on a technical standpoint. However, what a 10 does is provide an exceptional, unique experience on at least one front; whether that be comedic, sentimental, structural, philosophical, etc., the writing shines in a way that I find stands out.
9: A 9 is outstanding. I may have minor personal gripes with some of the execution, or perhaps there were a few fumbles in the writing. Either way, the issues with a 9 are fairly inconsequential. They're great, and I found them highly enjoyable.
8: An 8 has a lot going for it. A gripping plot, perhaps, or some genuine, creative humour. Unsurprisingly, an 8 was something that kept me invested for at least a majority of its runtime. Though it may not be difficult to pick out issues from an 8, they are relatively solid and stand out as enjoyable.
7: A 7 has flaws. Noticeable ones, at that. Despite such, they maintained something interesting about them at their core, like a fundamental soup base in a chef's recipe. Except in this case, perhaps the soup was too mild. Or too salty. Or I'd ordered a pasta and gotten a soup instead.
6: Contrary to the new "7 is average" trend, a 6 is not below average. A 6 has merits in its writing like stars in the night sky. Except in this case, there's also a field of stinging nettle where you're stargazing, but at least you've brought your machete. In other words, a 6 has potentially annoying quirks in writing that can sometimes make it harder to view the product in an optimistically positive light. Maybe you can hack your way through the leafy filler.
5: Does a 5 have more flaws than a 6 or a 7? Potentially. That could be a reason it ends up here. It could also be like an empty field; vast, but largely devoid of content. The occasional shroud of interesting writing may pop up, but most of the time, the absence of interesting writing material overshadows that shroud. Simply put, for me, a 5 probably didn't make much of an impact.
4: The only way to go below making no impact is to make a negative impact. That's not to say that a 4 cannot have positive elements; hell, sometimes these positives can be widely acknowledged and enough reason to garner praise (and a higher rating) from others. For me, though, they were not enough. 4s simply weren't fun to go through. Perhaps something went wrong in the process from storyboarding to execution.
3: From mildly infuriating to simply a slog to go through, 3s are where I start to find it hard to pick out defining positives. "At least the animation was decent", I might say, "and this comedy scene almost had a punchline!". However, it's no use; it is simply a man bargaining with himself, keeping his mind busy as he attempts to create the light of positivity in the wretched bowels of a deep, dark cave filled with some very bad writing.
2: Being stuck in The Cave of 3s, the man cries out for anyone to help. But he is alone. Alone with only the likes of horrible, horrible shows to quell his tears. He lets out a great scream, echoing through the chasm to the snowy mountains above. Finally, an answerer, heeding his call. The snow above. It comes down the mountain with a torrential roar, crunching down upon the entrance to these unforgiving depths of isolation.
No one can help him now.
Feeling his way around the pitch black, he grasps something on the floor. A matchbox! This must've come from above ground. Perhaps a gift from the avalanche, a force of which initially seemed like a great misfortune.
In his excitement, he takes a stick and ignites the phosphorus with a swift flick of his wrist.
With this small but familiar light source, he looks ahead to the chasms below.
He freezes.
His mind has been reduced to a husk; an unholy sight not even the hardiest of criminals, the most wicked of dictators, the truly most despicable people throughout millennia deserved to see: that awaited him. Closing his eyes, he falls to the floor; a lifeless bundle of tissue and bones, soon to be forgotten.
1: I hope, that for both my sake and yours, I never have to place something down as a 1. Morbid curiosity can be a dangerous thing.
Additionally, I try not to go back and rerate things, even if I like them less in retrospect; I find the initial score accurately reflects how someone feels right after finishing.
Hi! I saw you review on the manga “ Yuusha desu ga Isekai de Elf Yome to Pizza-ten Hajimemasu” and was wondering where did you read it? or what did you type to find it. :)
Haha yes. My mal account is just a small meme with a few things being accurate (to some degree at least) such as the anime and manga I watch/read. I actually found out about and watched failed knight from some Roblox anime game, not Stella's breasts. Take what I say with a mountain of salt and keep in mind that I'm a different person irl. Hope this Helps!

And yes, the anime doesn't have a jazz OST, so it's understandable. Still an amazing one...
