Haha, yeah I ended up finding one that automatically generated covers, you should grab the css if it's more convenient for you! I actually found out about the theme from you on a old reddit post
Thanks for taking the time to reply! I've seen you around on /r/anime before and you've got a lot of strong opinions on what constitutes "good" slice of life anime, and with your extensive repertoire of shows from the genre I naturally became curious. So again, thanks for taking the time to reply. Also, I really don't think you're half as bad at writing as you think you are lol I think you're great.
I can agree with a lot of what you say (obviously) especially about how you value the audiovisual immersive experience. I saw you had House of Five Leaves in your top 5, which is a title that I endlessly love, and I think it's a good example of what you're referring to, right?
I find the melancholic thing interesting, and I think that "finding them beautiful" especially holds true when the whole sorrow in loss thing is done right. YKK seems inviting enough, I might check it out in the future.
That's probably the most controversial criterion you have, I think. I suppose I can agree to a certain extent, I think I and a lot of other people can't fully get on board with it because in real life, not many people actually personally change enough for it to be noteworthy. What I do specifically like though, is character growth, which I suppose falls under character development. Shows like Hanasaku Iroha have really good character growth I'd say, and because growing as an individual (especially in an environment that is more grounded in reality) is so easy to relate with for anyone, I value it a lot.
I have a question, you seem to watch a lot of Slice of Life and are quite critical of the genre. What exactly do you look for in Slice of Life anime? What makes a show good, or conversely, bad?
Of viruses they're very different in terms of stories but they do feel similar so far and I've heard both of them mentionned often I'm the same vein, and I love mushishi.
So thank you, the fact that you rated origination so much higher than the first two seasons give me hope, especially since I quite like the series so far!
Haven't heard of mono no aware before, and Aria doesn't feel like that yet, but when it does that'll be awesome :)

Also, ayy, Ping Pong in your top 5!

Makes sense, I'll need to rewatch season 1 sometime (pretty big bias against SoL before Mushishi).
How similar do you think Aria is to Mushishi?
How do you feel about later seasons of mushishi compared to the first season?
