-----Some Hidden Gems-----
Some are not as hidden but are definitely underrated and need to be talked about more!
I want to eat your Pancreas: I haven't met one person who has watched it before. I recommended it to all my friends but not once have I heard that someone has watched it. Such an underrated and amazing movie. Although it is predictable, the storytelling was just amazing. Not going to spoil anything but it gives a great message that everyone should apply to their life. The storyline was very much like Your Lie in April but both had their own unique feel to it. The characters have a really realistic feel to them. They felt like actual people than just fictional characters. The animation does a great job of giving that realistic feel with little details like the character's movement. The opening was pretty amazing. Sumika was a really great choice for the opening. The opening really stuck out to me the first time watching it and so is in my top 10s. I'm a person who loves sad anime so this really hit me the first time watching it. Overall its an amazing masterpiece everyone should watch.
5 Centimeters per second: 5 Centimeters per second is a really controversial anime. It's either a love or hate relationship. I really love this anime but I can see why people hate it because its perfectly reasonable. Anyways, what makes this anime so special for me is the story. The story is about a couple who's love drifted apart due to distance and time. They both understood they were not meant to be together no matter how hard they try because in the end fate always acted against them. The animation was superb coming from Makato Shinkai. In the end, this movie for me was amazing.
Darwin's game: Darwin's game was an anime I got introduced to by my friend. Darwin's game was really nostalgic to me considering this was one of the first animes I've watched. Darwin's game had a sort of unique story that really makes you addicted to it. It had some really nice animation that went unheard. The thing that really stuck out the most was the banger of an opening. It was perfect for the anime and was really good. Overall, really nice anime.
Vinland Saga: Vinland Saga teaches more than what your history teacher can. Vinland Saga shows the untold truth of the medieval times. The story is a powerful and emotional journey. The character development is just godly with every single character. The animation was really amazing which really brought this anime to life. It also came packed with one hell of an opening. Overall really amazing anime.
Made In Abyss: On the outside it seems like a really innocent journey anime with little kids but what it really is, is an amazing masterpiece that you'll never expect. Made in abyss starts strong in the first episode leaving you with the question, "What is at the bottom of the Abyss?". As you progress through the anime, you can really notice the amazing animation, the godly soundtrack, while seeing the dark themes unfold. Made in Abyss is one hell of an anime that definitely deserved anime of the year.
A Place Further than the Universe: I was left with a hole in my heart for a long time. It was a desire for an anime with a gripping and sad story, an amazing soundtrack, and amazing animation. For months I've had this desire and had tried to desperately search for anime just like it but have stumbled across none. When I first saw reviews on A place Further than the Universe I thought it was a ordinary wholesome anime. What it really was, was much more than I thought. A place further than the universe has a simple but unique story that leaves you with many emotions throughout the anime. What leaves you with these emotions is how well each aspect of the anime is made. The characters are all well written with unique personalities that lack of cliché traits. Each individual character is amazing in their own way with each episode helping you learn more about each one. Along with the characters, the soundtrack is amazing. The soundtrack really gives you an experience that is unique with each scene individually. You can really feel your youth sparking up. The opening, ending, insert songs, basically the entire soundtrack fits really well but as well slap. Lastly, the anime couldn't be anime without its animation. The animation is definitely above average and provides that feel to the right mood. I could not ask for a better anime.
Maquia: Maquia is one truly hidden gem. The film was a masterpiece. The animation was spectacular, the character development was so amazingly well written, the story was unique and really well written to fit with the characters and the message, the soundtrack is as well astonishing. While going through the movie you can really feel the emotions with each scene with the soundtrack backing up each scene with intense feelings that make you hold your heart the entire movie. Towards the end, you can really feel the pain. It really shows you how significant life is and how blessed we are to have our chance at life and not to waste it... To make a family and give our kids the best opportunities in life that we can... to cherish every second be it happy or sad... life is beautiful... precious... and invaluable... This movie will stand in my favorites and has truly affected me. This is a MUST watch. This definitely deserves so much more attention.
Three Days of Happiness: Three days of Happiness was a manga that I stumbled upon when I was searching for manga. One day I picked it up randomly to decide to read on that night since its 16 chapters. It's a really short story that is just executed so perfectly. Three days of Happiness has a really unique story. The first chapter hooks you in with a good twist that makes you want to read more. The thing that makes this manga so high ranked and so highly critiqued, is the ending chapters. The writing and direction of the manga becomes a masterpiece leaving you drenching your heart the entire time you're reading it. The manga surprises you with many unexpected turns and every now and then shocks you with the surprisingly nice drawings. The ending chapters then just destroy you. The amazing writing is what truly makes this manga a masterpiece. I could not ask for anything better.
Bastard: Bastard is a Manhwa that needs the amount of attention that Tower of God and Solo leveling are getting. Although it doesn't have sick fights, the intense story and well written characters make it rise to the same level. The drawings are monotone and lack of color. This style really fits the theme of the manhwa and gives the right vibes to it. The story is one hell of a ride beginning to end. As the manga starts to end, a lot of thoughts and emotions flood just to make the ending special. The thing that puts this into action is the characters. Without the well written characters, Bastard would not be the same. All the characters face amazing character developments that makes the manhwa even more better. Then, there's a great romance that you don't expect to be really good in this type of story. The romance puts everything in place to make this manhwa one hell of a read.
