The thought is still rather crazy to me;
guess it's not so strange now that you're older but...
even between my irl friends... Only one of them works.
The rest? University or... Finished university and found nothing!
sigh, I am not looking forward to that next year. Maybe it's
not good that I'm still so young because I am so behind in uni T.T

Hmmm, I'm not sure about fanservice being less present in the past, or tropes being less present, I just feel like anime has moved through many aesthetics, and this last one just cares much more about cheap, screen-able scenes so that it gets shared around for the sex appeal and the character's merchandise becomes just that little bit more precious.
I actually got rather disappointed: dungeon menshi is a manga I'm really into. Part of the appeal is that it's not fanservicy: it's drawn by a woman and while it has some more risqué panels, they're less about fanservice and more about showing off the character. When the anime got adapted I really felt disappointed when so many scenes just got corrupted by the male gaze, having the camera really hone in and focus on how sexually-sapphic some scenes can be interpreted as... x.x
I've never actually heard of gilmore girls. I'm not big on TV series: I've only managed to watch one, and it was with my group of friends, and it's one of those shows that is so bad it's good. I've been kinda looking more at movies, strong aesthetic forces really compell me to consume media and movies can have some very interesting styles.

Books, eh? I've actually not read much in so many years... I had promised a friend of mine a looooong time ago that I'd read the entirety of Umineko (visual novel). I started it... 6 years ago, and I'm... right now... Halfway there. The absolute toll of this promise is still lost to me, and while I'm enjoying the read (it is directly connected to the golden age of detective novels, and as an early teen I used to be into Agatha Christie's stories), it's definitely... Heavy? Slow? It has some amazing scenes and great set-ups, but the prose also tends to be absolutely atrocious in places. Turns out, VNs, as media in Japan, are considered more of a "product" than an "expression", and while this was already somewhat evident with the amount of erotica produced, even with something like Umineko, which is far away from that crowd, its value was balanced by the amount it took to finish reading... So here I am, 5 years (?) later, enjoying it too much to just drop it (and I do want to finish it) and at the same time, every few scenes or so, there just is, that scene where the prose is just... Infuriating. One moment, you have a pretty amazing and moving scene, the next, you have a character say one thing, then the narration explaining that that character did indeed say that thing, followed by the narration making it very explicit how that character feels, third paragraph of somehow rexplaining both previous points, and then, out of nowhere, you even get another character explaining it out of nowhere a 4th time, and it totally kills my drive for weeks. Somehow, my friends who finished it, did so in a week, and never saw any of these issues while somehow "consciously reading every line".
So I'm umi-stuck... But I did recently read all of Tim Roger's autobiographical short stories, I'm not sure what sort of books you like reading, but I do wholeheartedly suggest you read just like hamburger, exactly like hamburger. It really got me thinking about memories, and the bittersweet knowledge of being able to forget.

I am actually a bit too shy to approach them again, even if I think about it sometimes. Been so long, you know? Must've moved on, become different people.
