Well, well, it's always great to find people with similar taste/favourites but color me surprised....Not a lot of people read VNs (to my knowledge....)....and this is the first time when I see someone who read FataMoru and is from my country.
Cel putin o data m-am gandit intrebator ca sunt singurul de la noi care (poate) a citit nuvela vizuala. Tinand cont ca o anumita vrajitoare isi are locul in lista ta, cred ca ai terminat si A Requiem of Innocence...
Hey! Late happy new year to you as well. Thank you for writing such a passionate message about umineko. It's a work which definitely deserves thought put into analysing it. It's a type of work which is truly difficult (dare I say impossible) to do justice because there is so much to uncover and examine. Needless to say, I was truly humbled by the end, and after looking back on tons of scenes, it's amazing how much was foreshadowed, straight up. I agree with everything that you wrote to me, as a literary work, the highs of umineko stand among the greatest moments of all of fiction for me. It is so intelligently put together, with so much care and attention to detail that all you can do is just bow in defeat at its shining brilliance. A marvel, really.
I agree though, the pacing made it tough to get through and even tougher to recommend. It's really quite frustrating when you think that only a small number of people will faithfully finish the whole project without having any hiccups on the way. Even I can attest to this, I must have dropped it about 5 times in the early chapters haha. It was a rocky road for sure, but I have no regrets now that it's over. I would play through it again in a heartbeat if it wouldn't take so much of my life away haha
Oh man, I just love finding other fans of fata! I feel like they are all introspective thinkers with a high empathetic capacity. You really put it beautifully, the atmosphere and detail are two qualities which I feel are unmatched in fata. I honestly believe that it is one of the very few examples of high art in media, especially in the anime/manga/vn scene. You can sense the quality oozing out of every inch of the project. Even the fact that all of the European references and music are done quite accurately and again with such an attention that it's impossible to justify such quality out of a bloody visual novel haha! I have actually played quite a few vns recently and fata is truly a product which stands on its own as a visionary of its medium. It could have so easily introduced nudity as H scenes, but it didn't and I'm so respectful for that, especially considering which themes were covered in the story. All in all it really had no right in creating such a well produced project, it's hard to find any flaws, really.
I am pleased to inform you that you absolutely must play the side stories, including requiem and fragment. They do Jacopo and Morgana's relationship 100% justice, don't worry. Everyone felt the same way as you, since the relationship felt a bit forced int he base game. That's intentional, since a lot of the details have been left out. In requiem, this is all explored to x10 the detail. It completely redeems Jacopo's character 'flaws' and expands upon his relationship with Morgana and truly delves into why things unfolded as they did in their past lives. I would love to hear to expanded thoughts once you play this!! Also don't forget to play through all of the side stories that come with requiem, they all add so much that it's a mandatory experience!
FRFR. The parallels between Ange and Beatrice and how it enhances both of their character journey is peak, definitely one of my fav things 'bout umineko
Now that I have completed ep 8 in the manga. one thing I can say for sure is, the manga, was WAY more emotionally and thematically detailed and well-paced than the VN(only for ep 8 tho). Although, the final send-off and the boat scene still remain better in the VN. Both of them are sorta like complementary to each other imo. They only enhance each others' qualities and make up for each others' shortcomings making for a perfect piece of fiction when considered as one.
