Heres a few things that i like:

I like kawaii animes like K-On,Lucky star and yuru yuri.
Adventure animes are fun because of all the views you see and the trials your character experiences as you go through the anime
Shounen animes are okay but are sometimes predictable
Outstanding stories like steins gate and mushishi which always has you hooked until the end of the episodes
Animes with deep stories where everything makes sense in the end or they explain everything near the end like Attack on titan and Monster
Sports animes are one of my fav categories because it really makes you feel the team spirit and as if your one of the members in the team it also shows you how much effort and all the feeling are pushed into that one sport.

A bit about myself

Watched my first anime in 2014~stopped anime for a year and then continued in 2015 until now and have not stopped enjoying it ever since :D
Favourite shonen anime (currently 9.8.18): Hunter X Hunter (2011)
Favourite slice of life/drama (currently 29.12.18) Sangatsu no lion
Favourite Sports anime : (currently 15/01/19) Kaze ga tsuyoku Fuiteiru
Just a normal anime watcher which also reads manga now and then but mostly spends time on games, such as csgo and osu and many more.

The reason i watch anime is because sometimes it feels like you can relate to the story, or something you would love to do. I like how each anime has its own story which you can take part in it also gives you a wider imagination.

nah i'd say to wait for the anime to get the full effect of the jokes. manga should only be read if u wanna know what happens next in their relationship
