Gwyneth Paltrow.
Considering this is tv series and not a movie, they won't cast that name or anyone else from big movies.
It might get some of high-names, because Starz is, frankly just as big as HBO and Showtime.
Considering this involves Sam Raimi, it will obviously contain Lucy Lawless (best known as Third Cylon in Battlestar Galactica remake and Xena in Xena), because most of his works contained her in some form or role.
MOst of the cast will probably be your susual Vancouver/Toronto casting pool + some relatively big names.

I am the only one who is excited over this news?
I don't expect it to be the exact thing as the original though.
btw forgive my ignorance is this a movie or a tv series?
Tv series thus it's called remake.Still I'd prefer to call it an adaptation.

Just the thought of the epicness that is Noir being defiled by something like Live Action makes me sick. :x
My thoughts exactly.

It has the possibility of going well, because it is being done by Starz (who've been doing pretty great with shows like Spartacus Blood & Sand, and the adaptation of Ken Follet's Pillars of the Earth).
Starz will have no huge incentive to dramatically alter the content like a syndicated television network would, or have to dumb down content for a pg rating like a major movie studio dealing with an anime would.
I'll keep my fingers crossed, but not necessarily hold my breath. I just hope they keep Kirika as a young Japanese girl.

They will most probably change a lot of the plot as well its Sam Raimi after all...

I think Noir is a very underrated anime, it had great music, and a pretty good story which unfortunately did not come across as well as it should have because they were stuck with an idiotic studio which didn't show blood...
It's called censorship.
And don't get too excited about Sam Rami. Oh yes I think he is a fine director, but that's just that, a director. Assuming this is a TV series of some kind (being Starz) Rami is the Executive Producer. Generally in the world of Television the Executive Producer is the one who charges the project (like a chief director would on an anime)
But 9/10 times the executive producer is the one who actually created the series to begin with. When someone like Sam Raimi or Jerry Bruckheimer Executive produces a series they really get a network interested and see to it that the polite episode is made and after that they don't do anything with the series.

this could work

Besides, Noir could easily work in live-action. I mean, the anime series itself wasn't that animated to begin with...
