It's always fun to see people draw ridiculous conclusions on very short description of plot setup.

It has Azuma Hiroki as a writer. This alone is reason to expect much from this show.

Dunno about Yamakan though...

On noitaminA wikipedia page it says:
The timeslot is to be expanded from half an hour to a full hour in 2010, and will now air Thursday nights from 24:45 to 25:45. Fractale will be aired in noitamina, does that mean it will be an hour per episode show?

While it doesn't sound too original, it is the right sort of premise to either be amazing or crap. In other words, the premise hasn't limited the show, it sounds like a premise that could even be in a Miyazaki movie, or else it could be M. Night Shamalan's foray into anime. Who knows at this point? At least they've kept us guessing.

It does not sound very original, but the art as shown associated to a story of this kind could give very beautiful results.

Doesn't look really good, I'm gonna pass on this one.
