The 16th and final episode of Re:Zero kara Hajimeru Isekai Seikatsu 3rd Season (Re:ZERO -Starting Life in Another World- Season 3) ended with an announcement on Wednesday that a fourth season is in production. The official website also revealed a teaser promo and a teaser visual (pictured above). The original character designer Shinichirou Ootsuka also drew a commemorative illustration (pictured right).

Produced by White Fox, the first anime season adapting Tappei Nagatsuki's isekai fantasy light novel debuted in Spring 2016, covering the first nine volumes. The Memory Snow side-story OVA premiered in theaters in October 2018, followed by the Hyouketsu no Kizuna (The Frozen Bond) prequel OVA in November 2019.

The second season aired in split cours, with the first cours airing in 13 episodes in Summer 2020 and the 12-episode second cours in Winter 2021.

The third season began airing with the Shuugeki-hen (Attack arc) on October 2 and ended on November 20 last year. The Hangeki-hen (Counterattack arc) began on February 5. Cunchyroll streamed the season with multiple subtitles and dubs.

Nagatsuki originally began penning the series on the Shousetsuka ni Narou website in April 2012. Kadokawa began printing the novel with illustrations by Shinichirou Ootsuka through its MF Bunko J imprint in January 2014 and published the 40th volume on March 24.

Funimation originally licensed the anime series in North America and released the first season on home video in two installments in June 2018 and February 2019. Crunchyroll released the second season on Blu-ray in September 2023.

Yen Press licensed the light novel in December 2015 and published the 26th volume on November 26 last year, with the 27th volume scheduled for a May 13 release. The company also publishes the manga adaptations and the Re:Zero kara Hajimeru Isekai Seikatsu Ex (Re:ZERO -Starting Life in Another World- Ex) side story.

Great, and expected, news. Keep em coming and keep letting White Fox cook.

@RobertBobert Yea probably another 66 episodes to be caught up tbh.

@vaedeer Until recently I was impressed by MHA's 8 seasons, but it looks like ReZero will require a lot more cours to adapt even the part of the story that has been published so far.

@RobertBobert

S4 is supposed to have 22 episodes, but if I'd have to guess for the next season (5) which would be on 7+8 it'd probably be over 40 episodes without a doubt.

Mar 27, 12:03 PM by vaedeer

@vaedeer So, ideally this should get two 25+ episode seasons?

Mar 27, 12:00 PM by RobertBobert

@RobertBobert

I think that would be arcs 7+8 which was supposed to be one big arc. That would kind of be equivalent to the first 50 episodes.

Arc 6 recaptures the charm of suspense, desperation and wonder Arc 1-3 had. Really hoping they don't skimp on material like last 2 seasons.

Not very surprising with this series. Should be good though.

Whoever approved Subaru's new clothing deserves a raise.

Btw, I do think we can have it by the next year itself.

Happy for fans of the series. Now I'm curious to know if it will take another 3 years for the next season to premiere?

@Nachtwandler_21 I was once told by LN readers that the 6th arc is the size of all the anime that has aired so far.

Mar 26, 5:20 PM by RobertBobert

@RobertBobert according to the leaks, S4 should be 22 episodes.

@ChrisTries If we do get 12 arcs and their adaptations, the ending will make AoT and Mushoku Tensai feel like more of a local show.

Mar 26, 4:04 PM by RobertBobert

@RobertBobert
They certainly will considering we are still a ways from the end, currently on arc 9 on the LN and it should end on arc 12 according to author comments

Mar 26, 3:54 PM by ChrisTries

@ChrisTries In that case they have a chance to take 100 in a couple of arcs

Mar 26, 3:48 PM by RobertBobert

@RobertBobert
including OVA's it would be 68

Mar 26, 3:44 PM by ChrisTries

@ChrisTries Not including OVAs?
