'Moonrise' Unveils Main Cast, Additional Staff, April 2025 Premiere

Netflix Japan revealed the main cast, additional staff, and theme song for the Moonrise original anime on Friday. The anime is scheduled to be released worldwide on Netflix on April 10.

Voice actors Chiaki Kobayashi (Sousou no Frieren) and Yuuto Uemura (Vinland Saga) are starring as Jacob Shadow and Phil Ashe, respectively.

Masashi Koizuka (Shingeki no Kyoujin Season 2) is directing the anime and handling the series composition at Wit Studio. Ayumi Yamada (Owari no Seraph) is adapting the character designs from Hiromu Arakawa (Fullmetal Alchemist) and Ryou Kawasaki (Fate/Grand Order: Zettai Majuu Sensen Babylonia) is composing the music.

A prologue novel written by Tow Ubukata (Mardock Scramble) was released on Amazon in December 2018.

Wit Studio in charge of creating this anime original series is one thing (a positive one), but woah, this staff is something even bigger. Simply impressive list of talented artists of all kinds. I'm kinda worried about character designs, though. I'm not a huge fan of Hiromu Arakawa's style, lol.

Anyway, this show's premise also sounds interesting. That being said, I will wait for an animated trailer before feeling like giving it a try once it is released. Good to know the release date, and nice that it is not that far away. ;p

The old teaser PV looks exciting. There's a WIT Studio original dropping next month, sweet!

I hope this is proper, hard sci-fi, with minimal magical powers or nonsensical exposition.
