The official website of the television anime adapting Yama Wayama's Karaoke Iko! (Let's Go Karaoke!) manga announced the main cast on Friday. The anime is scheduled to premiere in 2025.

Cast
Satomi Oka: Shun Horie (Boku no Kokoro no Yabai Yatsu)
Kyouji Narita: Daisuke Ono (Ao no Exorcist)

Asami Nakatani (Genjitsu no Yohane: Sunshine in the Mirror) is directing the anime at Doga Kobo. Yoshimi Narita (Senpai ga Uzai Kouhai no Hanashi) is handling the series composition and Mai Matsuura (Sirius) is designing the characters. Takurou Iga ("Oshi no Ko") is composing the music.

Wayama originally published Karaoke Iko! as a doujin at the COMITIA 129 in August 2019. Kadokawa published the manga in a single volume in September 2020. Wayama began drawing the Famiresu Iko. (Let's Go to Family Restaurant) sequel manga in Monthly Comic Beam in November that year. Kadokawa released the first volume in December 2023.

Yen Press licensed the manga in English in 2021 and published it in March 2022.

Karaoke Iko! placed fifth in the female readers category in the 2021 Kono Manga ga Sugoi! rankings and was nominated for the 14th Manga Taisho award in 2021. The manga also received a live-action movie that opened in Japan on January 12.

@Memore Hmm, thanks for the answer. I'm afraid that if we continue like this, it will turn into an inappropriate spoiler festival :D. But thanks for the answer, you gave me the necessary preliminary information.

@RobertBobert, I hope so,

@Memore So even if it's not a actual BL romance in any sense right now, there's always a chance it will go that direction in the future?

Nov 9, 5:33 AM by RobertBobert

@RobertBobert, of course, all her works are BL.

Nov 9, 5:17 AM by Memore

@Memore So you think the author at least cares about the BL audience?

Nov 9, 5:09 AM by RobertBobert

@RobertBobert, no, it isn't.

@Memore So it started out as a bromance manga with BL-bait elements, but when it got a full-fledged sequel, the writer abandoned it?

Nov 8, 1:32 PM by RobertBobert

@bucciest, I agree, but they decided to choose another person sadly.

Nov 8, 1:30 PM by Memore

@RobertBobert, yes, there are very few BL hints in Karaoke, Iko and nothing in another manga which will be adapted.

Nothing against Daisuke Ono, but I am disappointed that Yuuichi Nakamura won't be voicing Narita like he did in one of the PVs... His voice suited the character so much.

The casting of Shun Horie for Satomi is good though. His character is supposed to be dealing with his voice dropping and still sound like a prepubescent boy (at least sometimes), so based on his past roles (Migi in "Migi and Dali" in particular), Shun Horie would be able to deliver on that.

This is not BL, but a manga about friendship between generations, right?

Good choice! I read both mangas and wait for both the anime!
